If you are new to the game and making an archer, going Hunter as your second job class will be the easiest and cheapest (in two ways =P). All you have to do is place an ankle snare and any monster will be frozen in place for about 30 secs (I think 30 secs is right).
However, since you are new to the game, you may also benefit from meeting new people, in which case you may want to choose Bard (or Dancer), as they are usually more group-oriented classes and will help you make friends. Hunters tend to be solo characters.
The choice is yours, it depends on your playing style; if you like to solo - go Hunter, if you like to party with other players - go Bard (or Dancer).
If you need money, be sure to have a Merchant character as an alt to take advantage of it's discount and overcharge skills. But i'm not really going to get into making money, if you need help making money you can just go to
