I've played the games since the first one game out. They're my favourite series.
The only movie with any ties to the game, and this is a stretch, was the first. They hinted to the Red Queen etc. That's it.

It helped that Paul Mercier did the voice again, too.
They changed Wesker's voice actor for R.E. 5, from Richard Waugh to someone else, but it worked. The differences weren't too noticable.
Capcom recognise the importance of continuity.
