We did not catch dogs now.
We catched them thousand years ago and made them our slaves.
Over generations people turned them into "fluffy loving animals".
Some house hold animals do labor work.
They never said "no" because they cannot speak.

yes you can develop that attachment , but it is not about developing it , but having it in the moment when you see this person.
