it has nothing to do with being cruel.

we eat pigs and cows in america because it is food. people may still own pigs and cows as pets, but that doesnt stop making it tasty.

in china, dogs are food. dogs can be pets, but do you seriously think the dog killed in that video was a pet?

i see all this argument about dogs being "domesticated" and that fact gives us(americans) not to eat them. have you ever wondered WHY we domesticated dogs in the first place? because they could be put to use. they were domesticated to be TOOLS, not companions. what do you think dogs were before they were domesticated? they were food. it was not until long after we stopped eating them that we found out they could be companions.

now think of the amount of dogs in china running around. theres a limit to how many "companions" and "tools" a man can keep and i dont think theres a large budget in china's government for pounds and shelters. so what do you with the extra? eat them. duh.

and then i see people crying about the way they were killed. one, it shouldnt even matter since its gonna be eaten anyway. and two, "humane slaughtering" of animals isnt as profitable, thats why we dont even do it here(in america)
