But yeah, I'll be sure to keep an eye on those things that really draw me into the game. I mean if I can bring myself out of high school failure and have success in college I'm pretty sure I can do a good job keeping things in order.

What that guy said. Also, most people I've seen who've become "addicted" to it don't play it because it's fun but because of a social reason - obligations to other people, trying to keep up with the raiding scene (which even at the "casual" level is a steady week-to-week commitment), keep up with the very latest gear etc..
Different people find different things fun. Find what works for you. I played WoW for a long time and never really found it fun myself, it was more to do something with my father and then got sucked in the raiding scene which was not fun for me most of the time.
Managing your time as that person mentioned is the most important part. Even my father quit playing wow, it's just very time intensive. Unless you can keep a very rigid schedule stay away from raids, period.
Currently, WoW just isn't really a solo or small scale game over the long term. It still is a 10/25-man MMO. You can play it solo but the content is pretty dumbed down outside of the 10/25 raids - you may still find it fun though. Just remember that's it's a game designed around you logging in every month to pay the bills, whether it's through dailies etc.. Just keep the facts in perspective.
