The differance between Pokemon and Simpsons is that Pokemon is a continuing story when Simpsons is not (there are sometimes refrences from other episodes, but thre is no main plot).
Pokemon episodes usally are about 2 days and you have 'walking time' between each one.
I bet each region is about 1&1/2 years so it beens about 4-6 making Ash around 15.
