Some developers see that piracy does always equal a lost sale. If someone has pirated a game and it works fine they arn't going to go out a buy it, for the bigger releases it's not to bad as they make most money on the consoles and can afford to loose a few PC sales.
But it's with the indy and PC exclusive titles that really feel the force, people were pirating World of Goo a game made by a indy group and was selling for as little as £15 on Steam. I didn't buy it but I didn't go a pirate it either as if I like the look of a game then why should the developers loose out on my cash?
