Thumbs up "Happy Home"

Hello everyone, I'm here for a nice little RP called ”Happy Home”. Lovely, truly. I think I've covered every possible thing about this RP in this opening post, but even I'm not perfect. In fact, I tend to get carried away and explain things the hard way. That's where you should come in and slap my face, not literally. If anything.. anything sounds odd or just plain stupid: Holla! So that I can hear you.

What else? Hmm.. Oh yes, there's one thing. If you're still fresh in the whole concept of RP(ing), I suggest you find another RP. I intend this to be for the more experienced RPers. Of course if your CS(or actually in this RP it's PS, scroll down and you'll see why) looks promising enough, I'll let you join. Alright, now then.. happy RPing ^^

This opening post is quite long so in order to ”take it all in” I suggest you read it in parts. Of course if you feel like reading the whole thing through at once I'm not stopping. It's only a precaution so that you can actually remember the stuff you've read.

Patients:

Happy Home

(We care about you)

Journal entry 1, 25th of February 1977

Well.. Hi, I'm Ethan. The only reason why I'm writing is because of her, she is the only person who truly seems to understand me. Anyway, this is my first day in here and I can say for sure, I won't like this place at all. You want to know more? Of course you don't, you're a damn book. . Man, I'm having a conversation with a book. Yet another excellent reason for me to be here.

I was brought here by my ever-loving parents. Bah! Those bast***s never loved me. They never even hated me. I was like a useless painting to them, they kept me hanging on the wall because there simply wasn't anything else to put there. They never shed a single tear for me. One happy day, they found out I might have a few bolts loose. That I was a nutty nutcracker. A looney looney-toon. A f***ing psychopath.

As if they knew, they barely knew who I was for crying out loud! Well, they were pretty damn sure, at least that's what they kept yapping about.
How to get rid of unnecessary garbage which only takes up space? Find a flaw and return it. Too bad their insurance had been used 14 years ago, when they were making me!!

Intro (Part I):
You might have already guessed it, but I'll still say it. We're talking about a mental hospital bearing the name ”Happy Home”. This institution's roots come from the Second World War, it wasn't a hospital back then though, it was a prison. ”Happy Home” has had it's share of renovation's after those grim days, but a gruesome past like that can never be truly erased.

”Happy Home” has three floors, the first is for the minor patients. By minor, it means these patients do not suffer severe mental illnesses. The floor consists of a rather large lobby and a very large lounge. The lounge is for eating of course, but there is also a tv and a ping-pong table for spending time. The first floor is also well-known for it's hostility, there are a lot of patients in this one floor and when one flips, the rest go with it.

Journal Entry 11, 8th of March 1977

Hi! You won't believe what happened today, Journie! During lunch, these stupid morons started arguing about why the windows are closed at night. The other one kept saying that: ”They are closed because otherwise the demons would get us.. !!”, while the other one kept telling him that the windows can't keep the warmth inside if they are not closed at night. The first guy is seriously demented! I mean this isn't even the first time he has told us about these weird ”demons”.

Remember when I told you about that loony who kept banging the door at night? That's the guy! The guy who keeps ranting about those damn ”demons”. It's odd though, I always keep hearing these screams after he starts banging the door. Weird one's at that, it's as if someone is seriously being beaten to death.

Talking about ”beaten to death”, this was the thing I was supposed to tell you at first! I just got a little distracted, sorry about that Journie. Anyway, I had a near-death experience, honestly! The argument about those stupid windows escalated BIG time. Suddenly, I was watching a friggin' massacre with my own eyes. Someone had gotten hold of a sharp object of sorts, guess who? The stupid-demon-ranter-guy! I think at least four people were badly injured in that.

I was scared of course and tried to flee but those douchebag security guys who call themselves ”Reassurers” wouldn't let me! They kept telling that:”Until this is over, no one is allowed to leave”. F*** those sons of ******!! The only thing they do is drink that stupid coffee in their luxurious palaces in the 3rd floor. Well, wanna know what? I kicked the idiot in the oh-you-didn't spot and ran as fast as I could to my cell! Yeah yeah, now you're thinking why I didn't escape this hell-hole. Here's the reason, you don't exactly just walk out of here! Anyway, The Reassurers didn't like what I did of course, they came over later that day and..
*the entry stops here*

Intro (Part II):

The 2nd floor consists of a nice big balcony with lots of flowers and seats(in summer). There are cells in the 2nd floor too, they are for the major patients. By major, it means these patients have certain noticeable features which the minor one's supposedly don't have. The major patients simply can not be held near the minor one's since they have.. an unnerving affect on the minor patients. The therapists are also located in the 2nd floor. They are mainly there for the major patients, thus the location, but some of the minor patients tend to go there also. Ethan being one of those patients.

The 3rd floor is strictly restricted from entry for all the patients. If a patient is discovered roaming the halls of the 3rd floor, he or she is immediately.. sedated.. and put into his or her cell. The 3rd floor consists of the ”Reassurers” area and the boss's room. There supposedly are no cells in the 3rd floor.

Journal Entry 12, 9th of March 1977

Sorry, Journie, I had to stop writing yesterday for.. certain reasons. I can't tell the reason.. sorry. I don't have much to say really. I just wanted to come by and apologize. The ”massacre” at the lounge has been cleared off by the way. It appears the guy who talked about the demons was sent to the 2nd floor cells, serves him right. It was actually five who were injured. One girl's face was in shreds, the demon-guy used her face as a cutting board. The other four were also slice 'n' diced. This place is slowly turning into a nightmare...

Intro (Part III):
Everything above has been published to the outside world. This, is what hasn't been published, or even revealed. First it started as a rumor, but later on it was proven to be true. ”Happy Home” is far from happy, and rather far from a regular mental hospital. It is actually still a prison of sorts, but the prisoners themselves aren't actually criminals. Some of them have actually gone insane inside, but each and every patient was actually a more or less normal human being before being sent there. Why are they in ”Happy Home” then? Because of the owner of ”Happy Home”.. because of Joachim von Weiss. Joachim took the position of the manager after his father's early retirement, the hospital changed from that day. ”Happy Home” quickly took over the other mental hospitals, claiming that it has plenty of room for everyone. As such, every single mentally ill goes there to be tested and examined.

Von Weiss is pursuing a goal which he intends to achieve by using the inmates of ”Happy Home”. What this goal is, only von Weiss knows. Ethan is about to find out, but he needs help for that. Your help, to be exact.

Journal Entry 50, Tomorrow of April 1977

Tomorrow.. tomorrow everything will be revealed. DON'T YOU DARE DOUBT ME JOURNIE!!
...
I'm sorry! I shouldn't have yelled.. you didn't do anything wrong. Tomorrow.. I can't wait. All the friends who I've made during these last two months know about it. Tomorrow.. I will explain it to you.. tomorrow. She is going to help, I knew she would! You remember her, right? I told you about her a while ago.

This waiting is so crueling!! Can you even imagine, Journie? Of course not, you're still a damn book. Oh f**k it, I don't care if I go crazy. Hell, I am crazy already. Any sane can point it out just by reading you, Journie. I don't care!
.. I'm coming for you.. tomorrow will end it all..
*rest of the entry is unreadable*

Intro (Part IV):
Now it's time to talk about Psyche-Locks. Every single thing which has a conciousness, has Psyche-Locks. These Psyche-Locks ”float” around their owner and they are not visible for the naked eye. The only way to see these locks is to have a special trait, also this trait must be first unlocked before you can see the Psyche-Locks.
Why are there Psyche-Locks you ask? They are there for a single reason, they are there to protect the owner from mind manipulation. More specifically, the locks are there to prevent a Mind Link.

A Mind Link is a passageway for others to enter someone's mind. It is a fearsome weapon which can be used to read the mind, control, or even kill a human being(or something that has a conciousness) in seconds. A Mind Link can not be traced back to it's source, thus making it the perfect murder weapon. To make matters worse, a Mind Link can be established as many times as one wants. Also, there are no restrictions for having multiple Mind Links at the same time. Fortunately, no one has ever succeeded in this attempt thanks to Psyche-Locks.

This threat is still existent though, since someone who gains the power to see Psyche-Locks also gains the power to break them. In order to break a Psyche-Lock, first you have to be able to see them. This is achieved by unlocking your trait, this trait is unlocked by severing your own Psyche-Locks and establishing a Mind Link with yourself. After this is done, there is no turning back. Once you've severed your own Psyche-Locks, you can never have them back. This means that you're vulnerable to anyone who has mastered using Mind Links, it is one of the main reasons why no one has succeeded in total mind control.

Regardless after you've unlocked your trait you will be able to break Psyche-Locks. This is done in your Psyche-Form, you gain a Form when you create a Mind Link with yourself. This form resembles your real form, it's probably easier to see it as a ghostly form of yourself (http://sashatiainen.deviantart.com/art/Ghost-88298580). Even though the picture is about a dog/wolf, I hope you'll be able to make out how a human would look like in that form(not quite as transparent though). Your Psyche-Form must have some sort of a weapon. Your Psyche-Form is the only thing standing between a Mind Link from someone else, you could say your Psyche-Form is your new permanent Psyche-Lock. Anywho, when you are in your Psyche-Form you will be able to attack the Psyche-Locks. Note that you can not attack anything except the Psyche-Locks and their Psyche-Forms when you're in your Psyche-Form. The Psyche-Locks will retaliate though, they will send out their own Psyche-Forms against you. The forms differ greatly between different Psyche-Locks (they can be literally anything).

Also, if you wish to, your Psyche-Form can have it's own personality. That would be a way to reflect your character's mental state.

There are two major factors which affect the outcome of the Psyche-Locks' Psyche-Form. One: The amount and strength of the Psyche-Locks the person has. Note that there are minor and major Psyche-Locks (one major equals ten minors).
Two: The person itself. For example a guy who is very confident and extremely intelligent would have very powerful Psyche-Locks. A person's IQ is a great way to measure their Psyche-Locks' strength (( Don't you dare create twelve Einsteins.. )). Physical power does not play a role. It is all about the mind.

Imagine that a Psyche-Lock has a consciousness, it will probably make it easier to picture a Psyche-Lock attacking that way. If you're able to defeat the Psyche-Forms the Psyche-Locks send at you, you will be able to break the Psyche-Locks. This will enable the use of Mind Link.. the rest will be in your hands after that.

Rules and MISC:
Now that the story is clear, let's point out the rules and what-not. First of all, long posts thank you. If someone dares to try to sneak in a one-liner, he or she is flying out right away. No matter what kind of writer's block, you can ALWAYS come up with more than one sentence. Always at least one paragraph must be ”delivered”. This may seem harsh, but sometimes you just have to be strict in order to get the message through. If you absolutely can't come up with enough stuff, just wait until the RP goes a bit further or ask for help. I bet there are people who are happy to help if you feel stuck.

Then comes the characters. Put some effort into them, this RP isn't totally action packed, although I guarantee you'll be able to kicka** ^^. Character development is important, although I think every one of you knows that already.

What else? Well, don't feel shy about describing places or people, or inventing new stuff. It's not the end of the world if your description differs from mine or someone else's. The point is, I give out the basic layout(for example the maps) and then you fill it up with your own stuff. Don't go too extreme though, it still is a mental hospital to the outside world. Also take into consideration what the others have invented/put there.
Oh yeah, before I forget, feel free to make your own journal entries too. I'm almost sure I'll be making them later on.
On a side note, Joachim von Weiss can only be controlled by me.

For those who wonder about the fashion sense (or whatever it is), all the inmates wear similar colored clothing. It is described in the ”patient sheet”, look it up. The year is 1977 but the technology is already at the same level as our modern technology, why did I bother to change the year then you ask? Because I wanted to. There's no Cold War or such, it's peaceful. The only thing different is that Germany is seriously oppressed, and I mean seriously.

Any questions? Feel free to ask. I don't always remember to put everything in place, so it would help if you could point out the parts which are missing. The Psyche-Locks are probably the most confusing part, so if you don't understand, do not hesitate to ask. Any improvements you wish to share with? Feel free to open your mind and ask, asking never hurts anyone.

Now it's time to fill out your patient sheet and step inside ”Happy Home”.

Patient sheet

Name:
Age(7-25):
Gender:
Room(any of the cells in the first floor, notice that a few of them are bigger.. which of course means there is a reason for that):
Appearance(Pics are allowed. Oh, and there is only one restriction with clothing, it must be white(or different shades) colored. Everyone wearing white robes just seems.. dull. Also, everyone has a tattoo marked on top of their left hand. It's nothing fancy, it's only the room number they're in )):
Psyche-Form(simply describe how your character looks in this form. You can change what your character wears etc. The only restriction is that the form still resembles your character's real form):
Psyche-Form Weapon(s)(should be self-explanatory, preferably melee weapons but if you must have some sort of a projectile weapon, go ahead, I'm not stopping. Remember that the weapons are the same color as the Psyche-Form):
Background(Should be quite self-explanatory. Either describe your character's life before ”Happy Home” or while he/she has been there. Of course you can do both! It's always nice to know as much as possible about one's character):
Additional info(Anything you want to add, if you have nothing then you can leave this one out):

-------------------------------------------------------

Ethan's patient sheet is a nice example:

Patient sheet
Name: Ethan Mathias Trueborne
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Room: 107
Appearance:
Head: Ethan has a black, messy hair which is rather short. The hair reaches down to his ears, partly covering them. His hair is pointy from the middle, making the hair look even more messier. He tries to keep his right eye hidden. It is for a good reason, the eye has no pupil in it, it is just white. Originally the pupil was there, but at the age of 13 it just vanished without a real reason.. or so he thought. On a side note, he is still able to see with the white eye.

Torso & Arms: Ethan wears a white turtleneck shirt with it's sleeves rolled over to his elbows. The shirt doesn't have any distinctive features, it's just plain white. In his left hand is a fingerless white glove, it's not as white as his shirt because it's quite old. Nevertheless, he refuses to part with it even though everyone keeps telling that to him. All the nails in his right hand have been chewed, by Ethan himself. This chewing is something he has always done, the institution had no effect on it.

Legs: Ethan wears pale white jeans, the color matches with the turtleneck shirt. The jeans are rather new so they are still quite stiff, creating an illusion that Ethan is taller than he actually is. He keeps his shirt tucked underneath the jeans. Ethan also has a white belt with a metallic buckle in it. As for shoes, Ethan usually wears white sandals and socks.

Misc: Ethan is 5'9'' feet tall and his skin color is regular white, not tanned. His body structure is slim and he doesn't appear to be too muscular.

Psyche-Form: None of his clothes change in this form. His hair becomes longer(shoulder-length) and it's color turns grayish, but since the Form is rather transparent the actual grey part is hard to notice. His normal eye becomes also white and a small turquoise flame appears around the ”original” white eye (the right eye).
Psyche-Form Weapon: A medium-length katana with a bright wooden handle. The handle has no ”collar” ( I don't know what it's called but the thing that sets the blade and handle apart. A round thing, y'know? I suppose it offers protection for the wrists too ).

Background:
Ethan was born on July 15th 1962. Just as he described in his first journal entry, his childhood was spent without love. He found comfort from his friends, which he had plenty. Everyone either really liked him, or they felt pity for him.

It was at age 13 that Ethan discovered his right eye had lost it's pupil. This of course majorly shocked him, he let out a scared scream while looking at his own mirror image. His parents rushed to see what had happened. When they saw Ethan's eye, they immediately took him to a doctor. The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with Ethan's eye, except that it was white now. Ethan's parents refused to give up, they kept going from doctor to doctor until the day came when Ethan simply snapped. While on a yet another doctor's appointment, he rose from his seat and screamed from the bottom of his lungs ”I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!”.

The result of this outburst was quickly noted, and the doctor suggested a therapist. The doctor had no idea why Ethan did it, if his parents had told the doctor that it was most likely because they were running from doctor to doctor all the time, things would've been much different. However, it was not revealed to the doctor and so he wrote a recommendation letter to a therapist.

This had been the breakthrough Ethan's parents had waited. Of course they didn't take him to a therapist, they took him to the most famed mental facility on Earth at the time, ”Happy Home”. The recommendation letter was enough for Mr. Von Weiss to take Ethan in, although it appeared Joachim was much more interested in Ethan's white eye rather than the letter. With that, Ethan's parents left and Ethan became yet another patient in ”Happy Home”.

He has been there for two months now and he resides in the first floor, room 107. During these two months, Ethan has already changed. He has become mentally unstable but somehow, it seems like he still is in control. If he wants, that is.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
As a small treat, I'll put in Joachim's sheet too

Joachim's sheet

Name: Joachim von Weiss
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Head: Joachim has a noble look on him. His hair is light yellow and quite short. The hair above his forehead is tilted upwards and points to the right. Otherwise his hair is neatly combed, giving him a very sophisticated look. Joachim's eyes are thin and somewhat wide, his eyecolor is bright green. His eyebrows are of the same color as his hair, they are neatly trimmed but not enough that someone would actually notice it. His nose bridge is rather long but he tends to try and hide it by tilting his head slightly. He has zero stubble and zero sideburns, they've been shaved very carefully. Joachim also has stylish and expensive glasses which he tends to use all the time.

Torso & Arms: Joachim wears a pure white tailcoat with yellow linings decorating it. Under his tailcoat is a white collar shirt which is tied with a light yellow tie. He always keeps the tailcoat buttoned up, even from the sleeves. He also always wears white gloves with the same yellow linings as the tailcoat. The chest area of the tailcoat is the most decorated, there is a layer which consists several yellow-colored rectangles which are merely for decoration only. The ”tail” of the tailcoat has two yellow buttons and the buttons are surrounded with decorating details(( I'm sorry, I'm lazy )). All in all, the suit Joachim is wearing is very expensive.

Legs: Joachim has matching white suit pants with matching white dress shoes. The pants have same yellow lining going from the sides and a white belt with a metallic buckle on it. The buckle has a small hand printed in it.

Background:
Joachim was born 1953 in the ”suppressed” Germany. The older Joachim became, the more hatred accumulated inside of him. He loathed the fact that Germany had lost the war. At the age of 15, Joachim's parents decided to leave Germany. They were headed for United States, the ”promised country” at the time. When they finally settled in Joachim's father, Baldemar, started up his business in ”Happy Home”. During those years, Joachim's lust for revenge grew only deeper. The fact that they were able to leave Germany was a miracle itself, it was all thanks to Joachim's father reputation as a famed doctor.

Joachim's mother passed away only a year after ”Happy Home” had been opened. This shocked Baldemar heavily, he wasn't the same man anymore after that. Baldemar became much more distinct to his son, and to everyone. Joachim couldn't care less at that point, he was much too obsessed in reading the Bible. It was a truly suprising turn of events, but after Joachim was finished with the Bible.. he changed. He became much warmer for everyone, it was as if all that hatred had been absorbed by the book. Baldemar was only going for worse though, he had gotten himself an illness which was incurable.

Joachim had no intention of letting his father suffer any further. He acted as the judge for his father's life. No one still knows that it was Joachim who killed his own father, and no one will probably ever know. That knowledge is deeply stored in Joachim's mind. Soon after Baldemar's death, Joachim started running the ”Happy Home”. He was keen on achieving his goal now, nothing was more important to him than it. Even though he is warm and gentle now, he never reveals anything of himself to anyone. It is as if his gentle side is a mere façade..

Okay! That should do.. I'll check back in a few hours.
