How is it mandatory..? To do certain quests you need real world money, or for if you want to get some better armor?
Also, what's the new combat system like? Is it the same old button mashing where you repeatedly press 1 for a normal attack, or is that the new combat system?
Really confusing. To me, it doesn't look too bad. The button mashing is the only bad part imo.
Basically, they revamped a cash shop potion called "Incense", before, it would give you some bonuses here and there such as being able to open more Treasure Boxes, increased HP/MP (not by much), and some other stats. Now, it increases your damage by 250%, increases HP and MP by a large percentage, and you can use special skills on it such as healing your HP and MP fully over some seconds. There is now also a cursed weapons system where when you die, your items have a chance of becoming cursed. This inverts your stats. So let's say you find a chest gear with +29 Luck, when it is cursed, it will become -29 Luck. The only way to prevent this is to buy Holy Charms from the cash shop, which serves as a preventative barrier from your items being cursed. There is also Holy Scrolls which uncurse your items. Heroic bosses have a chance to drop cursed items, so it becomes mandatory that you spend a lot of money in the cash shop, or the auction house to even get these items. This is basically something that retracts from the very solid core gameplay, making it a game that has repelled a very large percentage of the game population, including one of the biggest guilds in the game, Bloodpact.

My guild on League, Shenanigans, which was pretty much 30+ only, has all basically quit except a few. I had a 40 Scout, 32 Warden, 32 Paladin, and a 17 Warden, so I'm not spewing all of this out of thin air. Astrum Nival really dropped the ball, and at first I was annoyed with Gpotato with this patch, but now as I understand it more and more, they're taking strides to please their community and get everyone to come back. Until then, I won't be playing. The new combat system is a result of the new Patronage/Incense system.
