12 years ago, a miracle vaccine was found. It wasnt for any specific disease, it was for all of them. They called it something that would boost the immune system of any creature, making them immune to any sickness. This was called, the greatest breakthrough in human history. It was very expensive, and was only given to those rich enough to afford it. The leaders of the United States were also not given this vaccine until the risks were ruled out. The side effects of this vaccine it turned out, were catastrophic.
A few weeks after the "miracle drug" was given, people began to show signs of aggression, and odd burns when exposed to UV rays. The vaccine wasnt just fighting disease, it was...changing people. The cure, became a disease, causing people to go through extreme changes, before finally mutating. The symptoms were a sensitivity to light, aggresive behavior, loss of hair, loss of color in skin and eyes, and finally comatose. The coma however was not long, they would wake up after a few minutes, and have a need to kill. These nocturnal creatures began to adapt, and evolve. They became the ultimate hunters. They were evolving to the point they no longer resembled humans. The sickness effected everyone different, but they always needed to hunt, and feed. The UV rays would cause harm to them, so they would only come out at night, or hunt in the buildings, where the lights no longer worked.
Those unaffected by the sickness were affected differently. The ones with enough money, and government officials(called Hunters) went underground, where they could hide. They sent military squads to the surface for supplies, and to keep anyone else from having a chance to survive. Any humans they would encounter were to be killed on sight, to avoid helping the wrong people. The ones who werent as lucky to be the privliged ones(survivors) have to live in fear. They have to survive any way they can. During the day the surface has the risk of running into a "kill squad". Most buildings were full of hungry infected. During the night the surface was a hunting ground for them. There is almost no safe place for them.
A small group of survivors has done well to avoid the soldiers and infected. They know its suicidal to stay and fight either one, so they are forced to hit and run. They have salvaged an old bus they have reinforced to keep moving. They keep on the run, moving from place to place to find resources, and shelter thats not a trap for the infected to have an easy meal. They attempt to find survivors where ever they go, but they are running low on supplies and fuel for the bus, and places to hide.

Not the earpiece. He is about 6'0 176 lb. He wears the green shirt without the patch on the shoulder and a tactical vest he salvaged from a dead soldier. He wears dark cargo pants with a holster for his handgun.
History: He was just 10 when the infection started. His family couldnt afford the injection when it first started so he didnt get it. It turned out to be a blessing. When the infection started the national guard was evacuating people from his town, while he never made it out with the soldiers but he managed to survive on his own. He started the convoy and has managed to survive this long.
