Question about GW: Factions
hey i was just wondering if you could just buy factions and play or is it like a expansion so u gotta buy the normal guild wars aswell...?

you dont need the first one to play the second one, but you will not get the map on the first one if you just brought the the second.

Yes, you get the 6 core classes and the 2 classes that come with Factions, the only thing you wont get if you only buy Factions is the map and missions from Prophecies and some Prophecies-only skills for the core classes. Either way I recommend you get both.

That was retarded the way they did that. They should've made 4 core classes (Warrior, Elementalist, Ranger and Monk) available to everyone and then had the Necromancer and Mesmer come only with Prophecies, meaning Factions people would get Assassins and Ritualists instead of them and Nightfall buyers would get their 2 classes instead.
Now theres basically no reason to get Prophecies unless people are concerned about getting the full story... and really, how many kids really care about story these days? |

Well, I suppose the Prophecies only skills would then come into play. Other than the explorable areas and the missions, there are the prophecies only skills that you guys have already mentioned.
I'd get prophecies if I was a new player, because it offers more introduction and a slower pace to get the player started. In fact, in Factions, the characters level so quickly the journey after level 20 can take place immediately. It is quite difficult to fight against mobs above level 20 when you're a first time player in GW, especially since the mobs are really flexible at higher levels. Still, I reccomend to get both anyways. With Nightfall coming out, you may want to save your cash after Prophecies and Factions though. Those two alone can last you a long while of gameplay.
