Marios's Mustache Wax

Well, I thought of making my own game with ED. So I pop up with these questions.
1. How do I make the game change to the next map when the user steps out of that screen? Is it at all possible? I enabled scrolling. I tried using the warp function, but that means I'll only be able to have 50 maps, and you have to square root them and nobody wants such a game, at least not me. 2. What are paper dolls? What's their function? How can i use them? 3. How can I make someone step over a door and make him enter into the house? I tried using the 'D' (Door) attribute, but thep player just stops (as though it's blocked) 4. My server's IP is xx.x.x.x Is this a unique one? I mean if I get another person and switches on the client by putting my server in the config.ini, will he be able to log on with me supposing my server is switched on and all? The server's IP is totally different than my own computer's IP that is, and as far as i know it's supposed to be so. Those are my questions, I'm hoping people can answer most of them, and please don't spam with unhelpful posts. Thanks. |

1. Wouldn't scrolling be just the opposite of what you want? Scrolling means, I believe, that the map scrolls as the player walks. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
3. For the door, try using a warp. I'm no expert on Elysium, can't answer any of the other questions. Chances are I answered the first two wrong too. Oh well. |

In response to number 4, it is determined by how you got th eip address. If the address starts with 192 tehn you got it from you network card and is only specific for your computer on a single lan.
If you attained your ip through the use of online ip pingers then it should be unique, only if you have a constant Internet connection. If the server is connected by dial-up (which it is highly recommended that it isn't) or the highspeed dynamically assignes address, then the address will change every time the Internet looses connection. If you can connect to your server through remote desktop, I'd suggest you do so and go to www.ipchicken.com . This site will immediatly tell you rou Web Based address. (<== the address someone over the Internet could use to connect to your server.)

1. First, off scrolling. Then delete all your maps in both server and client. Then run your server and client once. In your client if you are the admin press F1 and choose map editor, in your map editor select properties and put down warps. When you click on warp set the settings you want and place it at the place you want, at the end of the screen. To make more then 50 maps. Open your data.ini and change max maps to as many as you want. Delete your old map files and re-open server.
2. Paperdoll is a feature which you need to enable with vb6. It makes whatever item you equip onto your character appear onto the character on your screen. But it requires you to make the item in 12 directions in a special spritesheet. If you want to use it. Go to www.splamm.com/elysium/ and search for paperdoll diamond tutorial 5.0 3. The same way as warping. Except place the warp at the door. If you want to make where you warp to indoors go to the map properties and check the Indoors column. 4. Go to www.ipchicken.com or www.whatismyip.com and check. That is your ip you are supposed to use. You can also go to www.no-ip.org and registered and download that program. It changes your ip to things like www.chickenmmo.no-ip.org so you dont have to enter the long thing. It only changes when you run the no-ip program though. but you can customised it for ports and stuff. This is good if your trying to host it with a router.
