www.maplestory.com - The official MapleStory Website
No sticky paws for this guide please. Thanks to www.sleepywood.net 's marketplace for price information, and www.hidden-street.net for other various information. Use Alt+F to find what you are looking for. New to maplestory, and would like some tips and tricks? Reading my in-depth guide should give you a pretty good idea, and hopefully get you started upon your journey into Maplestory. As some of you know, I've quit maple and have been off for some time now. So if you see any mistakes in prices, or anything else please just inform me and I will change it ASAP. This goes the same with any monster information too. Also please don't make any attempts to contact me in-game. There are people playing my account, although none of them are me. I also respect everybody's oppinion about the information in this guide, so please don't hold back with your comments/suggestions. I'll read every one of them, and take them all into consideration. Introducing MapleStory Welcome to the fascinating world of Maplestory, where you'll experience everything that may have been, until now, left to imagination. At Maple World, hunting and engaging in battles are not the only options you'll have. You can explore a totally new and unknown world you have never been to, put on beautiful clothes and gorgeous accessories, and even attract other users in the process. You may begin the journey to explore the world of unknown alone, but you may come out on the other end with numerous new friends through hunting and chatting. If you're tired of hunting and competition, how about playing minigames with a friend for a change? You'll become a brave adventurer protecting the Maple World, and if you're exhausted from all the intense battles and competition, you may one day build your own house at a quiet rural village, enjoying the life of a recluse who welcomes visitors At Maple Island, you will learn from the NPC's simple hunting skills and basic control of the game to help you ease into the game. Then, you'll board the ship that heads to Victoria Island, and that's where your journey REALLY begins. From Lith Harbor that welcomes you from a long journey from Maple Island, you'll run into such fascinating towns as Henesys - the village of bowmen with comfy mushroom-shaped houses gathered together; Ellinia - the village of magicians with mysterious spells embedded between tall trees; Perion - the village of warriors with the fighting spirit typical of the Indians living in highlands; and Kerning City - the village of thieves that reminds you of the back alleys of dark cities. You'll be playing the game at Victoria Island where all these diverse and unique towns and fields coexist. Here, you are going to be just a regular gamer hunting down monsters and protecting yourself in the process. You'll be given 4 paths to choose from, 4 that will define your life in MapleStory: Warrior, Bowman, Thief, and Magician. Through leveling up and meeting some requirements, you'll be able to make job advancements and nurture your character in your own, unique way. Time to break down the classes. note - For any class, when I note weapon attack, weapon attack speed, and price, I am referring to the average level 60 weapon of that class. WARRIOR Advantages: High HP High HP regain High base damage Multiple enemy striking attack Disadvantages: Slow-Normal attacking speed -10% EXP when you die Close range Equipment prices : Average I PERSONALLY reccomend a Warrior if you are new to maplestory. It is good for a support character as a beginner if you plan to make a second character, and great as a main character also. Due to its fast HP regain, and high base damage, not many potions are required. And you will save a LOT of money if you do not use many potions. Remember, this is YOUR story. None of us can pick a class for you. It's all about personal preferences. Snook's personal favorite: Warrior (Spearman) using Pole Arm Warrior (Fighter) Weapons: Swords and Axes One-handed Sword: Speed - Fast Attack (comparing to other warrior weapons) - Low[est] (77) Price (comparing to other warrior weapons) - Average Two-Handed Sword: Speed - Normal Attack - Average (80) Price - Average-High One-Handed Axe: Speed - Fast (low level) // Normal (high level) Attack - Low[est] (77) Price - Low Two-Handed Axe: Speed - Normal-Slow Attack - High (82) Price - Average-High Unique Abilities: Fury- Temporarily boosts the weapon attack level of everyone in the party around the area, but also decreases the level of weapon defense. Power Guard- Returns a portion of the damage received from the enemy. Can't return more than 10% of the enemy's Max HP at once, however. Warrior (Spearman) Weapons: Spears and PoleArms PoleArm: Speed - Slow Attack - High (82) Price - High Spear: Speed - Slow Attack - High (82) Price - High Unique Abilities: Iron Wall- Temporarily increases the level of weapon and magic defense on every member of the party around the area. Hyper Body- Temporarily increases the Max HP and Max MP of all members of the party around the area. Warrior (Page) Weapons: Swords and Blunt Weapons (maces) One-handed Sword: Speed - Fast Attack - Low[est] (77) Price - Average Two-Handed Sword: Speed - Normal Attack - Average (80) Price - Average-High One-Handed Mace: Speed - Normal Attack - Low-Average (79) Price - Low Two-Handed Mace: Speed - Slow Attack - High (82) Price - Low-Average Unique Abilities: Threaten- Use MP to temporarily threaten an enemy. Decreases the level of weapon attack and weapon defense of every enemy around the area Power Guard- Returns a portion of the damage received from the enemy. Can't return more than 10% of the enemy's Max HP at once, however. MAGICIAN Advantages: Fast leveling level 20+ High MP Fast/High MP regain Ranged attacks Elemental, specific monsters are weak to your attacks Disadvantages: Very tough to level up until level 20 or so Requires a lot of money to support Elemental, specific monsters are strong to your attacks Equipment Prices - High All classes of Magician use either a Wand or a Staff. Each person has their favorite of the two, but you will most likely have to alternate between them because of their difference in level. Example: Highest level wand - Level 48 (cromi) || Many mages use this for the rest of their maple carreer, unless they decide to shoot for the two higher level Staffs, which each happen to be VERY expensive. There are two Staffs higher leveled than the Cromi, Which are the level 55 (Thorns) and the level 65 (Evil Wings) Both which cost tens of millions of Mesos. Wand- Speed - Normal Attack - Normal (comparing with Staff) Price - Average-High Staff- Speed - Slow Attack - Normal (comparing with Wand) Price - High A magician seems to be a very popular choice of class. Which is logical, seeing they are excellent money makers and support characters once you pass the tough early levels. Be warned though, some of the most expensive items in-game belong to the Magician class. Remember, this is YOUR story. None of us can pick a class for you. It's all about personal preferences. Snook's personal favorite - Magician (Fire/Poison Wizard) Magician (Cleric) Advantages: Little potions needed once Heal and MP Eater are maxed Disadvantages: Lowest damaging class of all mages Skills: MP Eater Master Level: 20 Type: Passive Description: Soak up an enemy's MP after every magic attack. But if its MP reaches 0, no more. Heal Master Level: 30 Type: Recovery Description: Recovers the HP of all party members around the area. The amount of healing depends on the number of people being healed, and the undead monster in the vicinity of this will receive damage. Invincible Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Heal Lv 5 Description: Temporarily decreases the weapon damage received. Doesn't decrease the spell damage, however. Teleport Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Description: Use the arrow keys to teleport to other places in the same map on a set distance. The higher the skill level, the less MP you spend. Bless Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Invincible Lv 5 Description: Temporarily increases the weapon def., magic def., accuracy and avoidability of all party members around the area. BUT, it can't be used if combined with a skill or a potion. Holy Arrow Master Level: 30 Type: Active Description: Fires holy arrows at an enemy. Applies major damage to the undeads and devil-based monsters. |

Advantages: Highest damage dealing magician Strong against Ice monsters Hit-and-Run type attack (poison breathe) Disadvantages: Weak against fire monsters Skills: MP Eater Master Level: 20 Type: Passive Description: Soak up an enemy's MP after every magic attack. Teleport Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Description: Use the arrow keys to teleport to other places in the same map on a set distance. The higher the skill level, the less MP you spend. Slow Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Teleport Lv. 5 Description: Temporarily slows down the opponents around you. Can't use it on them twice at once, and affects only 6 enemies per attack. Fire Arrow Master Level: 30 Type: Active Description: Create a firearrow with the power of magic, and fires at an enemy. Applies 1.5 times the damage to the ice-based monsters, whereas fire-based enemies receive only half the damage. Poison Breath Master Level: 30 Type: Active Description: Create a poisonous water bubble, and shoots at an enemy. The enemy gets temporarily poisoned with a set success rate. Once poisoned, the HP slowly decreases. Magician (Ice/Lightning Wizard) Advantages: Strong against fire monsters (ice) Strong against water monsters (lightning) Multiple monster striking attack (lightning) Disadvantages: Weak against Ice monsters (ice) Weak against lightning monsters (lightning) Skills: MP Eater Master Level: 20 Type: Passive Description: Soak up an enemy's MP after every magic attack. But if its MP reaches 0, no more. Meditation Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: MP Eater Lv. 3 Description: Meditate for a bit to temporarily boost up the magic attack of party members around the area. Cold Beam Master Level: 30 Type: Active Description: Creates a sharp piece of ice to fire at an enemy. The ones that are struck temporarily freezes. Damages the fire-based enemies 1.5 times more, where as the ice-based enemies get only half the damage. Thunderbolt Master Level: 30 Type: Active Description: Creates an electric force field around the wizard and makes an electric lightening attack on every monster that's within the area. BOWMAN Advantages: Excellent range Not a lot of mesos needed to maintain Least common class, therefor cheap equipment Disadvantages: Cannot attack close-ranged Lower than average HP and MP Not the easiest class to level up Equipment Prices - Low-Average-High (varrys, weapons being most expensive) Ah, bowmen. The highest damaging class once you're around level 50+. Bowman are severely underrated, causing a lot of people to not pick them. However this is one of my personal favorite classes. Although I still haven't got around to creating one :P Remember, this is YOUR story. None of us can pick a class for you. It's all about personal preferences. Snook's Personal Favorite - Crossbowman Hunter Weapon: Bow Speed - Normal Attack - Average (75) Price - High (apprx 10x as expensive as Xbox) Skills: Bow Mastery Master Level: 20 Type: Passive Description: Increases the bow mastery and accuracy. It only applies when a bow is in hand. Final Attack : Bow Master Level: 30 Type: Passive Required: Bow Mastery Lv. 3 Description: With a certain success rate, another attack follows after performing an attacking skill. Only works with a bow in hand. Bow Booster Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Bow Mastery Lv. 5 Description: Uses HP and MP to temporarily boost up the attacking speed of the bow. It only works with a bow in hand. Power Knock-Back Master Level: 20 Type: Active Description: Improves the success rate of knocking back the enemies far when swinging the bow. The higher the level, the higher the number of enemies the character can knock down. Soul Arrow : Bow Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Bow Booster Lv. 5 Description: Temporarily allows the character to fire bow arrows without using up the arrows. Only works with a bow in hand. Arrow Bomb Master Level: 30 Type: Active Description: Fires arrows with bombs attached to it. If struck cleanly, the bomb explodes on the enemy, knocking out some of the enemies around with a certain success rate. Can't attack more than 6 at once, and it only works with a bow in hand. Crossbowman Weapon: Crossbow Speed - Normal Attack - Above Average (76) Price - Low Skills: CrossBow Mastery Master Level: 20 Type: Passive Description: Increases the bow mastery and accuracy. It only applies when a bow is in hand. Final Attack : CrossBow Master Level: 30 Type: Passive Required: Bow Mastery Lv. 3 Description: With a certain success rate, another attack follows after performing an attacking skill. Only works with a bow in hand. CrossBow Booster Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Bow Mastery Lv. Soul Arrow : CrossBow Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Bow Booster Lv. 5 Description: Temporarily allows the character to fire bow arrows without using up the arrows. Only works with a bow in hand. Iron Arrow Master Level: 30 Type: Active Description: The arrow that's fired goes through the enemy and damages the ones behind it. The damage decreases for every enemy it goes through, and it can't damage more than 6 at once. Only works with a crossbow in hand. THIEF Advantages: Fast attacking speed Fast walking speed Overall, a fast character :P Disadvantages: Expensive class to support Equipment Prices - High Thieves are my all-time favorite class, along with many other people. There speed, damage, and overall sexyness as a class makes them a very popular choice. However, I DO DO DO NOT reccomend a thief as a first character. They require many potions, and mesos for equipment. Remember, this is YOUR story. None of us can pick a class for you. It's all about personal preferences. Snook's personal favorite - Assassin Assassin Advantages: Great Range High speed Easy to level, if you have the required mesos Disadvantages: Cannot attack close range Stars are expensive as hell Many mesos needed to support Weapon: Claw Speed - Fast Attack - Low (even with highest attack throwing star) (30+27) Price - High Throwing Star Throwing Star is to Claw as Arrow is to Bow. A claw is useless without stars. Stars are thrown with the claw, this being Assassin's way of attacking Skills Javelin Mastery Master Level: 20 Type: Passive Description: Increases the mastery of throwing stars and accuracy, along with the maximum number of throwing stars to recharge. It only applies when the character is throwing stars. Critical Throw Master Level: 30 Type: Passive Required: Javelin Mastery Lv. 3 Description: Enables the character to make a critical attack with throwing stars on a certain success rate. Endure Master Level: 20 Type: Passive Description: Additional recovery for both HP and MP even while hanging still on a rope or a ladder. The higher the level, the faster the recovery time, along with recovering additional amounts of both MP and HP. Javelin Booster Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Required: Javelin Mastery Lv. 5 Description: Use HP and MP to temporarily boost up the attacking speed of the claw. It only applies when the character is equipped with a claw throwing stars. Haste Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive Description: Temporarily improves the speed and jumping ability of every member of the party. Drain Master Level: 30 Type: Active Required: Endure Lv. 3 Description: Absorb some of the damage dished out to the enemy as HP. The most one can absorb at once is the character's MaxHP / 2, and can't absorb more than the MaxHP of the enemy. |

If you want to see variety, I suggest you find a Warrior friend to party with. Hunter Lv30-35: Horned Mushroom, Jr Sentinel, Wild Boar, Zombie Mushroom Lv36-40: Wild Boar, Evil Eye, Fire Boar, Ligator, Jr. Cellion, Jr. Grupin, Jr. Liona Lv41-55: Fire Boar, Ligator, Jr. Cellion, Jr. Grupin, Jr. Liona, Lupin, Zombie Lupin, Stone Gollem Lv56-60: Stone Gollem, Jr. Yeti, Hector Lv61-70: Jr. Yeti, Hector, Coolie Zombie Crossbowman Lv30-35: Horned Mushroom, Jr Sentinel, Wild Boar, Zombie Mushroom Lv36-40: Wild Boar, Evil Eye, Fire Boar, Ligator, Jr. Cellion, Jr. Grupin, Jr. Liona Lv41-50: Fire Boar, Ligator, Jr. Cellion, Jr. Grupin, Jr. Liona, Lupin, Zombie Lupin, Stone Gollem Lv51-60: Cellion, Grupin, Liona, Stone Gollem, Jr. Yeti, Hector Lv61-70: Jr. Yeti, Hector, Coolie Zombie Stat/Skill Build Thief: AP (action points) *coming soon* SP (skill points) (Dagger Rogue) NB = Nimble Body // KE = Keen Eyes // DO = Disorder DkS = Dark Sight // DbS = Double Stab // LS = Lucky Seven Option A.) 10 DbS [10] (save 10 SP) 10 DbS [20, max] 18 NB [18] 3 DO [3, needed for DkS] 20 DkS [20, max] The main difference in Option A that's not in the other options, is the max Dark Sight. Max Dark Sight comes in handy in later levels when you get Haste in second job. When DkS is maxed, you have no moving penalty in speed. Therefor, the Haste overrides the Dark Sight, allowing you to move at high speeds without being hit by monsters when both skills are active. Option B.) 10 DbS [10] (save 10 SP) 10 DbS [20, max] 20 NB [20, max] 20 DO [20, max] 1 DkS [1] This is for the Disorder Bandit build. Disorder does come in handy when maxed while facing monsters with high weapon defence; excellent against bosses. Although the 1 DkS really does take a lot of fun out of being a bandit. I personally prefer Option A. Option B.) 10 DbS [10] (save 10 SP) 10 DbS [20, max] Random Mixture of NB, DO, and DkS. This build is for those who like a bit of variety. Just a pointer though, if you do go for this build, I do not reccomend you take DkS past level 10 (unless you plan to max it). The main reasoning behind max DkS is because of it's combonation with Haste. **other classes coming soon** |
