Ive been hooked on this game ever since my friend let me play his account for a few months and decided to get the game for myself but, I don't really wanna spend $40 for the first one then another $100 for the other two. So like the title says will I need the other two or can I last till, lets say Christmas?

You don't need the other two. But if you get them you will more character slots and a bigger world.

Arent expansion packs cheaper than the original game (GW) like $30 or $40.
The game itself is like what $50 or something. And besides u can download GW from their site.

Guild wars is $40
Guild Wars: Factions is $50
Guild Wars Nightfall is $50

Also, I know you can download GW from the site but you still gotta pay for it..

you can juz get nightfall it's a stand alone expansion juz like factions.

Yeah! you don't need to get the rest chapters - you can play with nightfall alone but it's good combination if you all have it coz you can access anywhere you will go (not necessarily). =)
