Team name:
We have a studios set up, this is just in the form of a company and a website (no office space as yet). This is called Keg Studios; a team name could be based on stargate… Project name: As of yet we don’t have a project name, however the current Stargate game that the studios is running is called Stargate Omega. I was thinking a name that is Goa’uld in Origin. Brief description: The game that I look to create is a stargate themed game, in this game you are to control a mother ship from one of the 4 classic stargate races: Goa’uld Tauri Asgard Replicator For any of you that have played navy field, my aim is a game that plays similar to this. For any of you that haven’t play the game, you have a ship that you can kit out and control then you go and attack other peoples ships, the other people are not AI they are other people that are currently playing on the server. In a similar way I want you to be able to do both Multi-player and single-player games, where you battle other people for the spoils of war. If you loose your ship that’s it, you start from scratch again, if you win the battle then you gain game credits, you can upgrade your ship with these game credits at the space station and in the same way as battlefield your crew gain experience when they go into battle. Target aim: To provide the community with a game and a free client that they can play for free to an extent, however to access certain features of the game you need to be a subscriber. All subscription fees will go to cover the costs of the server and go back into the community. I am not new on the gamming scene, or even on MMORPG’s working on some of the best Ultima Online Public Servers out there ABC UO and Defiance UO to name two. However I have never attempted to create anything on this scale before and the deadline for an initial alpha release of the game will be 3 months from the community forming. Compensation: I spend a lot of time working on several online games, and without getting some money back I am certain that I would not be able to take this time from my day. Therefore the fee’s that are taken will this cover the hosting costs (which will not be hosted by me) and then they will be divided up between the team. The people that put in the most hours and produce the most constructive items will be given more than the inactive members of the team. Some jobs are more time consuming than others and this will be taken into consideration. Technology: Technology for programmers: As is stands I have no set ideas for the game engine that I wish to use, the programmers first job will be to find me a suitable game engine, after this gets done I will find a suitable hosting package and get the game up and running, from this point on its crucial that we get the game up and finished soon, as we are loosing money on the hosting fee’s. The programmers will be using the language of the game engine and what ever else is required. Technology for modellers: This is to be discussed between the lead modeller and the individual. However we recognize the expense of some of the software packages and will bare this in mind. Technology for artists: This is very much the same as the modellers this is to be discussed between the lead artist and the individual. Team Structure: The development team for the game will consist of teams, these teams are divided up on specialisation, and these will be the following teams: Artist Team Modelling Team Programming Team Website and Publications Team Each of these groups will be led by the most experienced or the most dedicated members that applies to join the group. The team leaders will be responsible for assigning tasks given to the group to individual group members, therefore these team leaders will get a larger percentage of revenue generated. I want each team to have 4 members including the team leader. For the first couple of weeks these teams would be as important as we will be setting up and getting the initial concept in place and feedback from the forum members. However once this period is over the development team will divide into these teams, tasks will be given with deadlines. The important this is no matter what your skills I am sure I can find a place for you on the team, however I will carry no one. You are an active member or you aren’t getting any share of the pie at the end. Talent needed: I am looking for something very specific from the team as I am going to be investing a lot of time and money in the game. I want 4 members for ever team, when you are applying (if anyone chooses to apply from here) then please tell me what you are good at within the team, for example if you are a Modeller and you are good at static’s then tell me that and we can suit your role better to you. Programmers are the backbone of any development team; this one will be no different, if the number of programmers that apply goes over 4 then that’s great. We can find place for you on the team and we can find tasks for you to do. I want fairly high standard programmers, the guy that runs the studios is himself a very high level programmer and he will be able to tell sub-standard or copied code straight away. Anyone can apply, just tell me how you could be useful and I will try and fit you into the team. Website: This isn’t a problem, I have 3 domains that I can use to host forums and web-space and when we get the required server then we will have our own domain. I will set up some temporary forums once I have half a team in place. Well iam sorry i see it now, that this is a more future game whid robots and stuff.. Iam more a backtime drawer or how i will say :P Not so good at eanghish sry.
