I don't really like rap; I prefer the term old school hiphop.

I love Jurassic 5, every song with them is like a story...and they're far from conforming to the whole gangster scene.

Gangstarr...amazing group, from the 90s, same with Jurassic, during the time when the whole gangster scene sold records, they stuck to being lyrical and original.

Styles of Beyond, again, a 90s group, all about the lyrics and music.

Eminem's first album when he actually had to try, I advise you all to check it out. It's called Infinite, released in 96', it's got alot of great lyrics as apposed to his vomit now'days.

Sugar Hill Gang...
