how do you stop people who do nothin but girp even if you hit him he grips you

lol just use air attacks, or some sort of AoE skill...

try to dash away or keep a distance and use quick(move) attacks

The reason you might get the grab attack on you is if you're attacking air, and not the character.
They took out the jump attack and replaced it with the elbow lunge.
