I've been asking around and watching Guild Battles to determine what would best fit my second profession for my monk. Most people have said Mesmer, and I've seen mostly Elementalists in Guild Battles and I was wondering which one is better? I've also seen assassins but I don't have factions/nightfall right now so please do not suggest any new classes.

well, from just Prophecies I would say either Mesmer or Ranger

Mesmer for Inspiration Magic spells
Ranger for several stances

I'd say Mesmer.

meh, it all depends on your playstyle.. if you like to be safer, go with /R, if you like having more energy management, thus more healing power, go /Me
