i tried posting this in the ffxi section but... nobody was helping me out.

i have been thinking of getting ffxi for pc for a while, but i need to know a few things.

1. is the character customization good (can you get your hair to look like any ff characters?)

2. hair colors for all race's (because i really like a unique character and when they all have black or blond hair, well u just cant tell who's who.)

3. what is the game-play like (is it like any other ff game?)

4. what are the places u can go (forest, towns, etc?)

5. can you get your own air, pirate ship?(i keep seeing something like it in screenshots)

thx for the help

1. No, it sucks actually. No you cant get it to look like any FF characters. Predesigned faces + Predesigned Hair.

2. Hair colors are, red, brown, blonde, and black.

3. Its not like any FF game you've played before. Gameplay is practically the same session over and over again.
ex.
Grind for three days killing the same mobs to get to level 15...
Spend a few days getting the money for the newest set of armor...
Only to realize that in the course of getting money for that set you've leveled up enough that in 1 more level you need a newER set of armor.
Rinse and Repeat.

4. No, you cannot own your own pirate ship/air ship/water ship/ground ship/ or any other type of ship for that matter. You are limited to preset transport and chocobos.

My biggest problems with the game are as follows:

1. The mobs all look the same, a red crab in the first area looks identical to the level 25 crabs you find in other places, it just has a different name. Same with Bats, skeletons, and pretty much every other standard mob. Not including the unique ones.

2. The grind is exhausting. You'll level for days on end and still not have enough money to buy the set of armor you need. And the grind is not only long...but boring as well.

3. The economy is shot to hell, things are either overpriced or worth nothing at all.

4. The crafting system is for lack of a better word...f'ing awful.

5. It destroyed any and all hope I had of immersing myself in a Final Fantasy-like environment.

So basically, if you like Final Fantasy, and dont like sitting at your computer for 20 straight hours to gain a level. Dont buy this game.

But hey, thats just me.
