hi all,

ive decided to make a guide for rs to help out many of the ppl here

first of all lets start of with a small intro so people kno what rs really is:

RuneScape is a huge magical world. you create your account, choose what you would like to look like slay some montsers, raise your stats, make money, do quests ... some skills are : mining , smithing, rune crafting, magic, wood cutting, fire making, fishing, cooking, crafting. Then theres this option to become a member( by paying 5 USD/month ) and u get alot more skills for example herblore, thieving, slayer, agility, and some addition feature for the free to play version.

Then there pking(people killing)...as you go north you find youself in the wilderness where other players can attack you, but its not like a level 100 can attack a level 3. For example if your a lvl 30 and your in level 1 wilderness a level 40 cant attack you and if your in lvl 10 a lvl 40 CAN attack you.

First when u start the game you will not find a need to make money. As you get your level higher and have the ability to wear good armour youd want to make money and buy it. the richer you have the better it is

Frist of all when youve create you account. you will be sent to a tutorial. that should teach you the basics of how to play and a little about the skills etc. altho if u plan on becoming a member the tutorial wont help you. but you'll by then learn about the member skills . oh but i will teach you about the skills in my skill guide...

Now heres a skill guide on all the skills in rs :

Combat :

when your fighting theres 2 swords making an X on the top left corner of the small box of the right of the screen. here you will see 3 or 4 options : agresive, defensive, controlled and ones for attack.
aggresive is to train your strenght
defensive is to train your defence
controlled is to train defence strenght and attack - but its slower but raises all of em.
and the other is for attack only

i personally say your strenght should be really high, your attack and defences both should be the same level but u should atleast be able to wear deent armour and wield good weapons.

then theres hit points - these are raised as u train attack strenght defence ranged magic and prayer also i think.

Ranging

well for this skill you need a bow and an arrow. these can be perchased from either people or shops. get a bow and some arrows. equip them both and then kill monsters- u can kill them from a distance without them hurting you. the higher ranging you get the harder you start hitting with your arrows . and theres also ranging armour which you can wear to give you protection and its better for ranging - as you get a higher ranging level you can war better armours and wield better bows ( theres only 2 armours and 2 bows for free prayers - theres more for members )

Magic

now heres a quite usefull and good skill, one of my personal favourtes !
for this you need runes and the higher magic level you get the better spells you can use. all magic spells use different runes and some of them can cost alot. once you have the runes for any spell u can cast ( not all are for damaging the enemy ) you can attack the enemy from a distance giving you an advantage since he wont harm you - just like ranging.

RuneCrafting

now heres a useful skill. to start off you need to complete a quest called rune mysteries ( click on the quest journal to find out where to start it etc ) .. with this skill you can craft your own runes ! the higher runecrafting level you are the better runes you can craft.

prayer

well this is an easy skill. you can look at the prayer book ( you will find out about this in the tutorial ) and just burry bones to get your prayer level up. the better bones you burry the better experience you get.

crafting

theres many things you can craft. gold, silver, cut gems and make amulets rings or necklaces with the gem inside...
heres what u can craft :

Gold:
amulets
rings
necklaces

Silver:
symbols

cow hide/leather:
leather armour

cut gems:
rubies
diamonds
sapphires
emeralds

to make gold u need gold ores and the mould for the item you want to make. goto the furnace with the ore and moult . use ore with furnce to make a bar and then use the bar with the furnce to make a ring amulet or necklace.

to make silver you need silver ore and a mould . goto the furnce and do the same as u do for gold

to craft leather you first need to get cow hides (kill cows for them) take them to the tanner and make them into leather (at a higher level you make craft hard leather)... when you have the leather buy a needle and some threads and use the leather and needle together.

to cut gems just take the gem and a chizel and use them together (you can only cut certain gems at your current level)


mining

heres a really good skill. take a pickaxe (you cant use all pickaxes at level 1, u need certain levels to use pick axes.) . at level 1 u can mine copper and tin. mine both of these and u need 1 of each to smith them.
as your mining level increases you can mine better ores for example coal and sell it off to make money.


smithing

for smithing you need to mine ores. at a low level you can only make bronze . this requires copper and tin. heres what ive made for you people to know what ores you need to make certain bars. then later u can use bars at an anvil using a hammer to smith weaponry and armour

level bar ores needed

1 bronze bar copper and tin

15 iron bar iron ore

30 steel bar 1 iron and 2 coal

50 mithril bar 1 mithril ore and 4 coals

70 adamantine bar 1 adamantine ore and 6 coals

85 rune bar 1 rune ore and 8 coal

the higher level you are the better items you can smith with these bars.


fishing

all you need is fishing equipment and to find the right spot to fish. after you fish you can cook you catch.
you can fish shrimps with a small net
then theres better fish you catch with a fishing rod and some bait
you need a fly fishing rod and feathers to fish salmon and trouts
you need a lobster cage to fish lobsters
and a harpoon to fish tuna and sword fish


cooking

you can cook the fish you caght on a cooking range or on a fire that can be made by using a log with a tinder box. or you can make cakes or pies etc.


wood-cutting

for this you need a hatchet. the higher wood cutting level you are the better wood you can cut and sell it for money.


fire making

take a log and burn it with a tinder box.

ok now here comes the good part. everyone needs money !!!
heres a few ways you can make money.

first of all you can get your fishing really high and fish lobsters and sell them off for 200-300gp each. they sell quite often and the higher fishing level you are the faster you catch em ! if your a member you can fish sharks at lvl 76 fishing and sell them 700-1000gp each. the lower price you put the faster you manage to sell them !

then theres mining. i really like this skill. first youd get bored but dont give up ! keep mining and mining ! once your level 85 mining you can mine rune ores which are around 20-25k ea... thats a really good way to make money. although it might take you long to get 85 mining but its worth the time ! really !- theres smithing but that wont help you make money alot... so i decided not to put that in.

ok now theres wood cutting my personal favourite. all these skills would be hard to train and would take long but hey ! its really worth it. you can get you wood cutting to 60 and then cut yews. yews sell for 200-300 gp each and if u decide to become a member.... at level 75 you can cut magic trees which sell for 800-1000gp each.

ok people now if your members you can fletch bows and high alch them. its a good way -

now heres a risky but extremely good way of making money- once you have a decent amount of money you can start merchanting ! this means you buy items for less money and sell them for more! i say risky becuase u might end up spending all your mony on buying somthing and find no1 to buy it for more.

one of my favourite way of merchanting is essences! you can be-friend many low level miners and ask them to mine you essences and then pay them 20-25gp each. you can then later sell them 30-35gp each!!! provided you have the cash, i bought 10k rune essences for 230k. and sold them for 350k !thats like more than a 100k profit ! all in 1 hour !

so thats about it for my money making guide

Player Mods
ok heres a small note about player mods. jagex selects some runescape players to become mods. this means they have the ability to mute people who are abusing orbreaking the rules. they are selected by jagex as they are experienced players and help people out alot. if you see a while crown infront of the persons name on the chat screen. well. hes a player mod.

Jagex Mods
these guys are the jagex staff members. if u see a golden crown infront of someones name , they're jagex mods- also theirs name are like this for example "Mod Omar" (dont wanna take their names hehe)
