http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp.html

Its very good for a free compiler for C++, very basic. I recommend you use it as well.

Blood shed is the way to go for C++. I suggest you download the beta version and the latest version due to the fact that some can't compile with the beta version.

Well, if you haven't programmed anything before this, it might be a good idea to start with VB or Python but I don't believe that C++ is that hard to learn compared to any language out there, so, you can go for C++, just get some key (and probably confusing too)terms like variables, pointers, classes, objects, functions etc. into you head first. I recommend reading principles behind such things until you understand their purpose to avoid confusion. As for a good place to start C++, I think the tutorials over at http://www.cprogramming.com should work fine.

C++ actually isn't very hard. In fact, it's my first programming language. Doesn't take very long to learn . You can start right over here: http://cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/pr...structure.html

First, I am in a college course and we're using Bloodshed. It's good stuff.

Also, try looking up academic books on C++. You have to pay but you get information thats whole, rather then pieced together tutorials.
