E-Style - or Euro Style - is the counterpart to K-Style in every way possible.
Where K-Style is fast and furious, E-Style is cautious and calculating. Where K-Style uses single-shot weapons, E-Style sprays with automatics. Where K-Style bounds around, E-Style tumbles straight in. E-Style, at its core, is made up of the "Three Ts": Tumbling, Turtling, and Tactics. The first, Tumbling, is obviously; E-Style tumbles before it dashes, and utilizes the inherent advantage to this move to help it during a firefight. E-Style is happiest tumbling towards (in the case of an SMG) or away from (for a rifle) an enemy in a narrow corridor; accuracy prevails over most skills in these situations, and E-Style is always focused around limiting the opponent's options. Turtling is E-Style's philosophy in the swordfighting department. While a K-Styler is flying across the screen at the speed of light, an E-Styler will sometimes stay completely still, provoking overextension and mistakes from confused enemies. E-Style utilizes the "Butterfly Breaker" - a simple jumping block - to throw opposing K-Stylers off of their tech, then follows up with one of the various kill methods they have access to. This Turtling is also well paired with the "Hidden T", Taunting; people get angry when someone turtles, and this rage often ruins their concentration. Finally, we have Tactics, the most important of the Three Ts. This is a case of brains over brawn: terrain advantage, group movement, pincer attacks, flanking, strategic grenadiering, medical support, and a number of other things are employed almost exclusively by E-Stylers, even though they are often incredibly effective. Assigning roles to individuals in a Team Death Match, for example, greatly increases the win rate of a team. For example: Maz Medias, Neta Marina, Si Sun, and Rumil Cirda are playing on Mansion in a TDM. Maz and Neta might be assigned to primary assault capacity - let's assume for now that they're the most accurate with their guns. Si may be better with her melee weapon, and so would be assigned to disruption. Finally, Rumil could be assigned to various support roles - covering fire for Si's disruption, grenadiering to bolster Maz and Neta's damage, hanging back to pinch off straggling enemies, or even a "rambo" role where he could unload clips of his fully-auto weapons in a suicidal rampage into the opponent's base. E-Style is overlooked by most people because of its seeming "boringness", "noobiness", et cetera, but it arguably takes more skill - or, at very least, more variety. Furthermore, an E-Styler is on the ethical high-ground, because they are able to play effectively without flagrantly, shamelessly exploiting acknowledged bugs in the game. E-Style is viable, enjoyable, and irrefutably effective, and should be afforded at least acknowledgement by the Gunz community. |

Obviously, as it says in the essay, you don't use shotguns and revolvers in e-style. You use a rifle or SMG, which - if aim is precise - will deal much more DPS than anything else, being fully automatic.

OH YEAH LETS HEAR IT FOR E-STYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously i go so annoyed at damn k-stylers moving around like a cricket with a lighter stuck up it's *** so i just dive around with my smg's and blow them away to me, the gunz world has 3 types, glitchers, cheapasses, and normal people, k, d, and e style respectively I hardly ever use swords though, maybe with a couple days practise in gladiator i might work out a way to use them effectively though my IGN = Drider, usually play on Quest West server E-STYLE 4 LIFE! |

Nicely done, Maz. Kudos to you, and of course E-Style.

Of course E-styling is not a bad style. if you do it right you can take out any level of kstyler. however, kstylers have tactics as well. the way you post it makes it seems like kstylers are dumbasses rebounding off walls and blasting shotguns all over.
I personally have tactics to resist all of your "T's". About the tumbling back and forth while blasting, the best thing to do is to butterfly left and right as fast as you can in an unpredictable pattern to throw off their aim. in the reload time, you butterfly (or just dash) up to them and get in close range with some shotties. usually if you get close to a pure estyler, they panic and tumble all around aimlessly and their accuracy goes way down. also, close range is when shotties do the most damage. I found this tactic to work against pretty much any estyler i've faced. when i'm far away i tend to get shot down more, but when i'm close up, i tend to shoot THEM down more. About the turtling. I have no complaints about turtling and i do not get angered and lose concentration when i face a turtler. I have a technique that sometimes works, but sometimes isn't that great. I call it the reverse butterfly. What i do is approach a turtler as if i was going to go head on into them. right as i'm about to do the next one to land into their block, i flip around and my character is already past them as i hit. this either lands a hit, or gives them an instant massive (without me getting stalled). usually they just slam their massive, and that gives me the openning to dive in and chop them up a few times, and repeat the process if they manage to block me. Now the times it doesn't work so well is when the turtler decides to move around. sometimes lag causes me to get stalled even if i did not touch them, then i get taken down a little and my technique can't really work, but even with that i can manage to top 80% of turtlers. About tactics. Well if you read the top 2 paragraphs you can obviously see that kstylers indeed have tactics as well (at least i do). Also, i believe a favorite tactic for kstylers is to go into back hallways and alleys and pop out some other location to get off a free shot to the opponent's back. Also, approaching from high up on walls is another favorite. And hiding behind walls to pop out and play "whack-a-mole" with the other guy. so in reality, it just depends on how well someoen can perform their side of the skills. A smart tumbler can avoid a kstyler getting close and stay ranged. A smart kstyler will be able to get up close and deal high shotgun damage. A good turtler will be able to block ksytlers and beat them, and piss them off. A good kstyler will find their way around turtlers, dig in for a few hits, be patient, and eventually beat the turtler. It's not the style that matters, it's the player that matters. I personally prefer to be a hybrider. One major flaw of kstylers is that no matter what situation they are in, they will just kstyle away. they refuse to change their style to fight the one that's destroying them. Being a hybrider lets me fight e-stylers and kstylers on equal grounds. during iGunz i e-styled for the first 35 levels of my "GunZ career". It served me well, earning me constant 3rd place or more even in a room dominated by kstylers. However, i find kstyling beneficial for early levels due to the low prices of weapons. I plan to merge into a hybrider again as soon as i have enough bounty for automatics, revs, and shotties Last edited by Duo; 12-24-2006 at 06:43 PM. |
