An American teenager is a person who is laid back. Teenagers have trouble thinking about what they want to be when they grow up and what they will do when they get out of school or what college will they go to. Teenagers get into stress with their family and friends. Teenagers may have a certain role model to follow and will either be a good or bad influence to them. There are many different types of teenagers and some may like to play games, some will like to play sports, and some would like to go to the mall and watch movies and eat out. Some also can be all of those things. The novel The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger clearly shows a teenager is a person who does not really care much about things or think about things before they do it because they are laidback.

Holden Caulfield is a realistic teenager because he has to go through stress and he feels sad once in a while. Holden got expelled from school from having bad grades. His little brother Allie died and it left a big gap in the family. His dad would kill him if he found out Holden got kicked out of the Pency. He also has this girl on his mind but another boy, Stradlater is dating her.

A teenager is laid back because they don’t think about the things they do until they do it and they don’t care much about it when they do things. Many teenagers do their homework on the last minute on the last day before it’s due the next day because they like to spend most of their time hanging out with friends, going out to the movies, and playing games. Holden has bad grades and does not seem to care much about them because he thinks he can work in a farm or pour oil and gas into cars and pretend to be a deaf mute to earn money and nobody would talk to him because they think he is a deaf mute, but he doesn’t want to leave his sister Phoebe behind and she does not want to leave without him so she wants to come with.

Teenagers have trouble thinking about what they want to do after high school. Holden does not have trouble thinking about what he wants to do after school. He has simple ideas about what he is going to do and his ideas are not intelligent because he doesn’t think deep enough into it and not noticing he will not be able to make money and having to pay taxes, he makes it seem like he will still be living as a teenager not having to worry about bills and insurance. A typical American teenager today would think about the bills, insurance and how they are going to a decent amount of money.

Teenagers usually have a role model to follow and person is usually someone who has power, a lot of money or is famous like Lance Armstrong or George Bush. Some teenagers also look up to their older brothers and sisters or their uncles and aunts. In the story Holden does not have a role model but his sister Phoebe looks up to him, Holden is Phoebe’s role model. Holden does not have a role model but can still be a realistic teenager because not all teenagers today have a role model.

Although there are many different types of teenagers and not everybody are the same, all types of teenagers do share a couple things in common such as being stressed out from school from too much homework or family problems. Common teenager types are video gamers, good grade people, slackers, and party animals. Video gamers are people who like to play on the computer, with the video gaming console or hand held portable gaming systems. Holden is not a video gamer, there are no video gaming consoles or computers like there are today. People who have good grades generally don’t play video games as much and they like to spend time studying and talk with their friends. Holden does not fit in this group because he does not have good grades but he does like to talk with his friends. Party animals are people who like to go out to party, watch movies and eat and they are active, Holden does not belong to this group because he does not party but he does go to the bars and drink. Slackers are people who doesn’t have good grades and doesn’t care much for it and they usually just sit back and relax and are laidback people, Holden is this type of person because he doesn’t seem to have a bright mind, he just thinks whatever is there and don’t think deep about it like when he told Phoebe he would just go to the farm and work there or poor gas and oil into peoples cars and get money. He don’t seem to know what could lie ahead and what could happen to him from it, he cares about other people more than himself because he puts his sister Phoebe ahead of him and he worries for her.

Some teenagers today have a girlfriend or boyfriend, and in the book, Holden has Jane in his mind and another guy is dating her which makes him angry. Teenagers have the same problem when someone else is dating their crush because when another person dates the person that they like, they are afraid the person might harm them or their afraid they will not want to go out with them again.

The conclusion is yes Holden does resemble an average American teenager today even though he doesn’t have some traits such as playing video games or watching television but he has more traits of a teenager today than he does not because Holden goes through the same stress and thought as a regular teenager about grades, girlfriends, friends, family stuff.

You start sentences with teenager WAY too much. There are also some run-on sentences.

An American teenager is a person who is laid back. Teenagers have trouble thinking about what they want to be when they grow up, and what they will do when they get out of school or what college will they go to. Teenagers get into stress with their family and friends, they also may have a certain role model to follow and depending who it is, will have either a good or bad influence on the teen. There are many different types of teens, some may like to play games, some will be more likely to play sports, and some just like to go to the mall and watch movies and eat out. Some can be all of those things. The novel, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger clearly shows a teenager is a person who does not really care much about things or think about things before they do it because they are laidback.

Holden Caulfield is a realistic teenager because he has to go through stress and he feels sad once in a while. Holden got expelled from school from having bad grades. His little brother Allie died and it left a big gap in his family. His dad would kill him if he found out Holden got kicked out of Pency. He also has this girl on his mind but another boy, Stradlater, is dating her.

Many teenagers do their homework at the last minute on the last day before it’s due. The next day because they like to spend most of their time hanging out with friends, going out to the movies, and playing games. Holden has bad grades and does not seem to care much about them because he thinks he can work in a farm or pour oil and gas into cars and pretend to be a deaf mute to earn money; and that nobody would talk to him because they think he is a deaf mute, but he doesn’t want to leave his sister Phoebe behind and she does not want to leave without him so she wants to come with.

Teenagers have trouble thinking about what they want to do after high school. Holden does not have trouble thinking about what he wants to do after school. He has simple ideas about what he is going to do and his ideas are not intelligent because he doesn’t think deep enough into it, and doesn’t notice he will not be able to make enough money to pay taxes. He makes it seem like he will still be living as a teenager not having to worry about bills and insurance. A typical American teenager today would think about the bills, insurance and how they are going to a decent amount of money.

Teenagers usually have a role model to follow and that person is usually someone who has power, a lot of money or is famous like Lance Armstrong or George Bush. Some teenagers also look up to their older brothers and sisters, or their uncles and aunts. In the story Holden does not have a role model but his sister Phoebe looks up to him, Holden is Phoebe’s role model. Holden does not fit in this group because he does not have good grades but he does like to talk with his friends. Party animals are people who like to go out to party, watch movies and eat, and they are very active, Holden does not belong to this group because he does not party but he does go to the bars and drink. Slackers are people who don’t have good grades and don’t care much for it, and they usually just sit back and relax and are laidback people. Holden is this type of person because he doesn’t seem to have a bright mind, he just thinks whatever is there and don’t think deep about it like when he told Phoebe he would just go to the farm and work there or poor gas and oil into peoples cars and get money.
