I finally found a table claiming to list the pet skills; my dragon hatchling is currently lvl 8 and has only 1 point used :-)

I was a bit surprised about what I found --- basically, the 1st level I gave to the Magic Attack Up skill only gives me 2 points, whereas I'd get 20 defense from the Lvl 1 Defense Up skill. And it continues like that; tiny attack improvement vs. "big"(?) defense improvement.

My problem now is... what exactly is "1 attack" or "1 defense"? How are these values used? Does "1 attack" mean I do 1 point additional damage (i.e. instead 400 I'd do 401) --- in which case it seems that technical point was a big waste? What exactly does defense do?

well for one thing you can reset your pet's skills for free, just go to the animal trainer. second dont get magic defence go for defence

Well, I refuse to accept the "dumbest question" tag. Pet5s have offensive and defensive skills, and as long as I don't know what "1 attack" actually does (it could be a factor, as in "spelldamage = baseattack * factor" --- in which case +1 baseattack would actually help).

Come to think of it, if asking whether "attack +" skils are good is a "dumbest question ever", then I probably have the wrong build as well? My mage is full-INT. I believe CON would add MP as well, and each INT adds something like 0.5 attack...

Along the same lines, it appears that "+n" on items is pretty much useless. I've got two armor items with + on them (from quests), and it appears it adds exactly that number to the defense. So unless "defense" is used in some non-linear manner, the difference between lets say 300 and 302 (no idea what my current total is) doesn't look very exciting to me.

This also seems to make the Bloodsealing a waste of money... but then, even I get 1K quickly.

Not completely true. The ones you get from the quest are only +1, so that explains for the little defense. But as you add more (as I have) you get more def and the "effects" along with the upgrades. Also, the level of the item is a factor as well. I.E. each time you upgrade a lvl 11 armor you get like a +1? on def, but on something like a level 26 armor you get like +5? on def (per each upgrade of course). So it adds up in the end.
