Default MMORPGs for MAC

There is one game not mentioned here, though it's not a traditional MMORPG. Second Life, www.secondlife.com. It is a huge game (takes space) but the graphics are very cool (in my non-gaming opinion), it's all other real users, and you can go to free concerts, dances (um, ok, virtual dances are a bit lame but whatever), areas of ill repute, supposed MMORPG communites though I haven't seen them, and it has war areas for those of you who want to blow each other up.
For those of you with simplistic gaming needs, there is also Pirates of the Caribbean online, the basic membership is free. http://apps.pirates.go.com/pirates/v...rrentnews.html
It is very simple and completely addictive. Create an avatar, run around and fight undead skeletons, sink ships with cannons after crewing up, and complete missions to get better. Even maxing out your character with basic, you still have fun crewing up with other people and being a right scallywag!
On the PC/Mac debate: I have a business degree and yet I use a Mac, but I'm not a huge gamer and they have Guitar Hero so I don't need anything else. I do a lot of video work and there is nothing to compare to iMovie (in my opinion). But overall, having worked with both systems throughout school, it just depends what you use it for. I am not a computer whiz and I find Mac exceedingly simple and easy and reliable and had nothing but trouble from my PC. But if I were to run a business anywhere outside of the film industry (where everyone has a Mac) I would use a PC because of the software. And if I were a gamer I would use PC. Anyway, there is no solution to that so hopefully my previous suggestions may help some of you other Mac users looking for cheap ways to play games and interact with other people.

I've run an apple for decades and recently installed windows XP on the mac and run them at the same time using windows parallel. That may be a solution for you. Another fun thing to do is run an emulator and play all those old NES, Genesis, SNES games, PS, etc games. Apple.com has a list of games you can purchase as well. As for free, well what do you expect in an mmorpg? You get what you pay for. Get a PS3 and FFXII Problem solved.

A good mmo is called Vista. You basically install it and begin doing quests. For every quest you get points. Once you've mastered it, you can become a boss and try to pk other players with malware.

I like vista.

Post My eyes hurtz

Hi just wanted to say you all are wrong.

This post is about MMORPGs for macs.

What has not been mentioned yet is
  • Vendetta - Space MMO
  • A Tale in a Desert
  • EVE Online - another space MMO
  • Minions of Mirth
  • Toontown Online
  • Worldwar II Online
  • MUDS!!!! - one of my favorites is awakenedworlds.net(port 4000)

Nethack being a rogue derivative isn't an MMO but its a great RPG that has a graphical representation.

I just realized that you can of course use the Apple Dev tools that are included on your mac or on your mac os x dev tools disc to compile the software yourself if you can obtain the source code. (Apples site also hosts the Xcode software.)

And finally Wine works on x86/x86_64 macs with minimal tweaking and its very realistic to boot windows and/or *nix (os x for granted :P) on the same machine or virtualize it.

Cheers hope I was helpful.
