I can honestly tell you, I level through grinding a LOT faster than I do through quests. So it isn't useless, it's just pretty boring.

actually, it depends on the level bracket youre on... early levels (1-20) usually earn you more experience thru questing. grinding becomes more and more prevalent as you climb higher in levels... quests wont give you so much experience any more compared to earlier, but it makes up for it with lotsa gold. =)
