A Guide to Sword fighting, by yours truly, Iris.
Table of Contents IX. Basic Stuff - Block, Jump Block, Block Tap, Light Step, Butterfly Step IIX. Advanced Stuff - Flip, Flip+Block, Double Butterfly, Sword Juggle 1, 2, 3, Instafall IIIX. Massives - Normal, Back, Sky, Ground Massives, Normal, Sky, Ground Blocks IVX. Tactics - Turtler, Flipper, Butterflier, TurtleFlipper, All-Rounder VX. Replays - Coming soon! VIX. Other Stuff IX. BASIC STUFF I assume you all know how to walk, jump, dash, and slash. Block Hold shift Comments – Very useful, learn to use this quickly and often. Jump Block Hold shift right after jumping Comments – Overlooked by many, but known to be useful by few. It almost guarantees a knock back, which is very useful. Block Tap Tap the shift key Comments – This is used to cancel all sword slashes. A prime example is the Butterfly. You cancel the slash with a block, and it allows you to restart the combo. Light Step Jump, dash, slash, dash again Comments – Yes, you are dashing twice in one jump. It should make an angle of some sort. Useful for running away, as you dash faster, and for evasion, for the same reason. Butterfly Step Jump, dash, slash, block Comments – Learn to use this a lot. Good butterfliers can kill gunners easily. However, don’t get cocky if you can beat a few gunners with this move; there are a lot of better people out there. You should be able to do this 3x in two seconds. This is probably the most effective move ever, learn to use it well. That’s it for basic stuff. This should get you through most people, assuming you can do all of them. IIX. ADVANCED STUFF Flip Right click Comments – You may ask why this is in the advanced stuff section. You will see, as you look at the higher level moves. Flip+Block Right click, block Comments – This one takes getting used to. If properly done, you shouldn’t even see your sword making contact with the enemy. You right click, and right before the sword hits, you block. The enemy should fly up, but you should have a sword ready to attack. Double Butterfly Jump, slash, block, dash, slash, block Comments – Hard, but useful. Learn to do this as well as BF. Sword Juggle 1 Flip+Block, then as they fall, slash 3x, but block tap on the third slash. Comments – The easy version of a Juggle. Useful, but only until you learn to do the real juggles. Sword Juggle 2 Flip+Block, then Butterfly as they fall. Comments – You should be able to do this 5x in a row before it becomes effective. Sword Juggle 3 Flip+Block, then Double Butterfly as they fall. Comments – Same as Sword Juggle 2. Instafall Flip+Block+Jump, Slash+Block Comments – Hard as hell to do until you get the hang of it. If you hit them with the slash, they should fall immediately. As they fall, you can slash up to 3 times. Then when they are on the ground… you can slash, but I am not going to tell you how. You’ll have to 1v1 me to learn. IIIX. MASSIVES Massives are useful, and it is essential to learn how to use them. A massive comes from blocking an enemy slash. Once you successfully massive someone, they are stunned. This is the time to attack! Attack Massives Normal Massive Face the opponent and click with a massive Comments – Useless. Back Massive Make an about face from your opponent, and massive. Comments – A basic version of a guard-breaking massive. Sky Massive Do the same thing as a Back Massive, but look straight up at the same time. Comments – Invaluable. Learn to use this even in the heat of battle. Ground Massive Same thing as a Back Massive, but look straight down. Comments – There is only one reason to use this, and it’ll be clear… Defense against Massives Block Shift Comments – Yeah, this works against normal massives. But don’t try it against the other ones! Sky Block Look straight up and block Comments – Use this well and often. It will always work, but it’s also very easy to screw up. Don’t say “My sky block isn’t working!” Its working, you just messed up. This will block everything except a Ground Massive. Ground Block Look down and block Comments – This only blocks a ground massive. This is to block those anti-sky blockers. IVX. TACTICS To my knowledge, there are several types of fighters. A Turtler is basically someone who blocks. Blocks, massives, slashes, and blocks again. These guys are weak against flips. A Butterflier is someone who only Butterflies and massives when they can. Weak against blocks. A Flipper is someone who waits until they can flip, then use a Juggle on you. Weak against BF. A TurtleFlipper is a Turtler and a Flipper combined. Use a combo of flips and Butterflies to beat these guys. And… there is the almighty… All-Rounder. These guys can do everything and they do anything to beat you. They’ll turtle a BFer, flip a turtler, BF a flipper, and they will alternate between them. These guys are good, and really have no weakness. Match their playing style. I personally use an All-Rounder type of fighting style. I block a lot, and I flip, but once they start to overpower me, I butterfly. Then I revert to TurtleFlipping. I almost always win, because not many people are All-Rounders. I like Instafall and Juggle 2. VX. Replays - Coming Soon! VIX. OTHER STUFF PM me for a 1v1. PM me advice. PM me if you want to join my clan, Helix. PM me for any reason you can think of. My IGN is Xoo¡¡¡. Copy and paste that. The i’s are alt173. Thanks for reading. Bye. 1v1 me and ask me that question. You notice Kstylers always go "TURTLER NOOB" or "SPRAYER NOOB"? Well... You might also notice the sprayers own the kstylers that say that... Now... what does that say? Trust me, turtle can own you. You just need to do it right. Also, if theres any part that Im missing or anytrhing that you would like to know, ask me.!

Turtles are only good againts inexperienced K-stylers. As Turtle offer close to no mouvements as it favorise defence over speed. When turtling, you kind of disable your "dash" options since you replace it with absolute blocks. When a k-styler is experienced enough, turtles mean piece of cake. Maybe pieces of cakes.
Oftenly, turtles will get flipped at the very most. As ( to be more precise) Bfers mouve with higher speed and usually move back and forth around the turtle. Thus Bfers has a better sight angle ON the turtle while the turtle is having trouble to follow the bfer's on screen. In a battle between a turtle a bfer. 1v1 Bfers are leading the duel from the start. Either experienced or not, Bfer is th one who control how the game will be or will start. The result will depend which side is more experienced than the other. Oftenly, in Expert channel or Elite Channel, no matter how experienced a turtle is, a bfer will generally defeat a turtle like nothing. Gunz is afterall a game that favorise thunder over earth. Thunder = speed and Earth = pure defence. However, exception kicks in when it's in a massive player game. Such as a team game that each side has over 1 player. The k-styler are likely to expect a fair 1v1 in these kind of game unless it's bow rules. Thus when the turtle confront the bfer, the turtle will slightly suprise the k-styler as the k-styler will bf around at start then suddenly notice it's mistake. This case, the result depend how well the turlte manage the time when the k-styler is "suprised".

hahaha amusing... a little k-styler underestimating a turtle. here's a little word of advice for you, never underestimate anything no matter how easy it may seem to be to counter. ive killed many k-stylers newbie, experienced and even amazingly skilled people turtling do you know why? usually they underestimated me and died in an instant the second their ego's got the better of them, but sometimes its just i have more experience. remember any fighting style can compete with any other fighting style, even if the opponent is a pro k-styler.
now... nice guide, im sure the newbies around here would learn alot from that, nice job. perhaps you should do some research for combo moves and techniques some people use? for example one of my favs Infinate Instafall: Infinate Instafall cancels the opponents animation to perform a second instafall alot sooner, often catching them before they have any chance of escape. Flip, Block, Jump, Slash, Block, Wait, Jump, Slash, Block, Slash, Block, Repeat all you need to do is know instafall, static dbf and get the timing for that wait perfect. |

Thats not infinite. Thats the hardest type of instakill. BUT! It only works when the instafall works. Because, thats based on a bf juggle. If you hit them, they dont go down. You instafall them, you keep dbf tap-ing them, they wont go down. Its a surefire instakill, but its the hardest and it requires some luck.
Question: You can do that >.> Im still perfecting a dbf tap.

i love the kstylers who complain about turtling, especially since im a defensive player, they try to circle bf you but, end up messing up if you know what to do, then you reverse or sky massive them, then juggle them or reload shoot them.
anyway iris nice guide, and you probably dont remember me, but i was that dstylist who challenged you, dstyle is trash though and cant pass a defensive kstyle style. |
