To "coax" states into creating a drinking age of 21, Congress promised any supporting state annual funds to support Interstate Highways. Luisianna was the only state stubburn enough to let an 85 mph Interstate High way get so pited that it wasn't even safe to drive 35. (they finnally passed such a law in the 70's, I believe) Edit: truthfully, I loath Japan, but that's because I'm a big anime addict.

I'll admit, the U.S does have alot of freedoms, and the govronment isnt ALL corrupt (I'm glad I got the hell out of Mexico), but they also have alot of stupid regulations. The thing I probably hate most about the U.S is the whole army push. "Bend over and let Uncle Sam ram you all night long mercilessly while you bite back the tears and wish you had never listened to that damned recrutor. Thats right, we will **** you in the *** for reletively nothing at all. We ask only for your dignity, and in times of war, your life." Yeah, if I'm going to die, it certainly isnt going to be for a country that doesnt give two shits weather I go home or not. |

Now I was talking about Asia's education system in the 12-16 hours of school, and then EU's freedom for homosexuals. So those two things do not relate .As towards you trying to say that all education is the same (If I read that wrong I apologize). That is not even close to being correct, to say that our high schools are equal to those of say China would be completely wrong. They are far more educated and can thus do more, in the regular sense, yes both are trained to succeed in life, but not to excel equally. One might excel faster or achieve something the other could not. And I disagree with you thinking most can take 13 classes, it's not only about the classes taken but the life style. Ask most people from Asia or Europe Vs. those in the US. How many of your friends are failing 20% of their classes. In the US that equals 1-2 classes, in the EU it would be 1-4 classes. (I rounded up / down). Quite simply from my friends, about 60% of them are failing at least one class with a C or lower. Please Note: To my family anything of a 73% and lower is failing, Universities do not like that grade, and in reality they do not like anything below a 80% which is a 2.5 GPA. Further more many Americans cannot actually do 13 classes, we are not built for it, they would fail many classes miserably. As well as the triple languages, which is one thing I am happy to say the US is trying to change, which is testing with secondary languages starting in grammar school. I am a bit confused as to you saying she will only want to excel in a few areas. That is true she will, but how is it any different then those over here? I only want to excel in the science and math departments, so 2-3 of my classes work for me. History, English, and language classes aren't my favorite (how ever I am trying to learn foreign languages for my own gain). Now my girl likes Literature and Language classes. So in total she has 6 classes that she is taken that she enjoys. 2 English classes, 1 French class, 2 Literature classes, and a Grammar class. So tell me how that is not quality as well. I see no where the showing off. Her classes are all important and we need them for the foundations of further education and to be as educated about the world around us. While many may find it unimportant to learn biology or chemistry, it is all around us, and learning more about the world is one of the most important things we can do. But it seemed to me you were saying we can specialize more because you said all that useless stuff. But in your average US school, you only get to choose 2 of your classes, one has to be a language class for at least 2 years and the other can be anything. Thats not customization. She can choose 3 of the classes to be what ever she wants. I personally have the ability to choose every single class I take, and I am a luckier US student. I will fulfill a AA by the time I am 18 and have the education that a large portion of Americans do not have. For those of you who do not understand. If you go straight from high school to college, when you are 20 you will have the same degree I have right now. So I do understand that customization is great, it truly is because I have done it first hand. OH YEAH, the thing about our Universities that runs into this. Our four year universities don't allow you to specialize in most programs until your Junior and Senior year, British, Scottish and Irish Universities allow you to specialize as soon as you get in. It is a large difference and you need to know your major before you enter. This may seem unfair to many Americans because they are unsure of what they want to be, but again, different life style. I do hope you read all of this and take into account what I am saying, I would love to hear a response about each part. As to your last paragraph let me ask you 3 distinct areas, medical future, own body, and sexual education. First the medical future, in the US can we do stem cell research? No because our president finds it morally wrong which he is supposed to be unbiased about his decisions but chooses other wise. In the EU they are achieving new levels of information in the Stem Cell research area because some are able to do the study. Please note: In the US I believe you can do stem cell research how ever it will not be government supported at all which means billions of dollars out of the companies pocket, thus very hard to do. So how is that Freedom? Second is the question of Abortion. I do not want to get into is abortion right or wrong but simply the fact that the women should get the choice to choose if a baby shall live in her body or not. Which is in itself a debatable topic. How ever both sides agree that if the well being of the mother is in danger then the baby is not as important. But regardless the idea of abortions is being tested again and may soon be out lawed in the US. This would be horrible, much more teen births if they mandate that a teenager over 16 knows what they are doing and abortion is deemed illegal for them. The last is sexual education. In the US many children are shielded from sex and sexual cases until they are in 5th and 6th grade, which is when Sex Ed starts in most schools. In most of EU and Asia they start earlier and are much more open about their bodies. In all of EU naked pictures in the news or on TV is common. It is accepted and people see their bodies as not mere objects and private as we do in the US. We are all brought up this way, but isn't this in a since restricting. Now I do not want to try and get into what US can do vs Asia because the fact is we have very few rights that some other country doesn't have, and many have more then us. Again I look forward to a response .Also who were you talking about is good?

Ahh FabianN
You don't like reading my posts.Well to correct FabianN It's not Mc Donolds they outlaw its acutally KFC right now, or in London and a few other places. And is the Trans fats that are illegeal in the food in Europe which KFC has the most in. Or maybe there is a limit, I do not know which. Also the Mc Donolds in EU had different sandwiches, they didn't have the deep fried chicken burger but rather a baked / cooked on which is healthier, it is quite interesting.

OK right this post is about freedom so i assume everything you are writing is relevent to freedom, obviously, so Asia's education system is relevent to there freedom and EU's rights on homosexuals is relevent to there freedom. If you think that having to be stuck in school for 12-16 hours a day has nothing to do with freedom i honestly cannot belive that your education has reached that past gcse's. What im saying is sure you'd free to quit but quit and you wont be free to do practise doing what you want to do. To make it 12-16 hours a day when others do 8 and less is means that really to be qualified you only need to do 8 hours or less a day not 12-16 and with 8 hours your free to go out and enjoy life in other ways you are not imprisoned by work.
I am not saying that all education is the same. I saying that if you as a person are destined to pass "n" number of classes then you will. Only if ofcourse you have the intellectual capacity to and if you have/can find the resources and teaching aids required and most developed countries have libraies and the internet so the information to pass is always there. What you get taught in school is information or knowledge if you will. That doesnt mean you cant teach your self and learn it for your self. If you want to pass you will. If you think you are more educated and thus can do more. This is wrong. You may have the information to do more but information is not power unless you are using it. If you learn how to speak french and then never speak it you are not "doing more" than someone who can't. Languages shouldnt really be in school anyway. I had to take French from the age of 14-16 i passed , do i ever use it no will i ever use it no because i've pretty much forgotton all i've learn because i've never had to use it. Language's should be self taught or privatly taught outside of school beacause they should be learnt if there going to be used or of benefit or synoptic in other work. E.g English and philosophy benefit eachother. maths is synoptic in ecomonics. I think you are getting it wrong you cannot truly simply just be Trained to Succeed at life lmao. Assuming that you can would mean you want everybody to be personalitless (not a real word i made it up but i think you understand what i mean). What i am saying is that some people fail and some succeed it is part of there character and is character building. You cannot stop this. This does however bare some relevence to asia if you want to train everyone to succeed your going to have to train them in all the same manner or to train them to all do the same thing. sounds like a cause for communism. OK now all these numbers you throwing at me 20% , 60% , 73% , 80% , 2.5GPA. Every statistic has an opposite. You and your friends might be failing 20% of your classes but i bet there kids in your school who are passing everything. This comes down to intellectual capacity or "want to pass" simply they are clever enough to pass everything or want to pass everything and you are not or do not. In England in most Alevel sujects (taken to get into universisty) 75% your getting an A. Quote:
Ok now lothia you keep changing all these numbers you coming out with to best suite you. When i say that it should be foused on quality not quanitity i was talking about when you said this: Quote:
In England if you want to take a Law degree for example in your 1st year you spend that learning the foundations in the 2-3year then you can pick specialist subjects and the same in the 4th year so no you do not waltz straight in saying Yow teach me this shit biaaatch. OK i understand that its hard to find out what you excel and what you want to take your major in. But that is where all education system are failing why beacause they try to force you to pick something when you couldnt possible really know what you want to be doing 10 years from now. its how i said before: What would be good for your kids would be a place where they can fully experience life, learn of what they want and learn most importantly who they are, this brings real character, power and wealth not busting your balls all your life over something you really couldnt give two sh!ts over. You've gotta learn who you are and what you want before you truly understand who others are and what others want. In answer to what your saying about freedom. Trying thinking about this for a sec i said it last post but prehapes you didnt understand. You are free to do whatever you want but with that means everybody else is free to do whatever they want. Ok. So that means you are free to do stem cell reasearch but the goverment is free to stop you and free not to fund you. Onto abortion , good one bringing this up its a good point. So lets assume the goverment has the freedom to say we are going to ban abortions. The mother still has the freedom to get rid of the child by means of putting it up for adoption or she doesnt want it born at all beacause of lets say what it will do to her "apperance" so theres still the option of killing it just not legally. Ok she will be incarsinated for doing the second if she kills it in the USA but the fact is that the option to kill the child hasnt been taken away it wouldnt be a breach of her freedom untill she cannot choose to do an option she wants to preform. Yet she still has the freedom to go to a country where it is legal and then go back to the usa. She is still free to abort the child. As far as it see it , the only place where freedom is taken from you in when you are imprisioned physically , mentally or both. In most cases lets say your a murderer you freedom has been taken from you beacause of abuse of your freedom and the number of people who are agaisnt your freedom outways the people for the murderers freedom. This i assume is fair play. P.S ive never heard of KFC being banned anywhere in Europe , i live in the UK and ive got a KFC just down the road , remember when it first open'd munched on so many bargin bucket meals hahaha. it was like hmm what shalll i have for lunch? Bargin Bucket hmm what shall i have for dinner ? bargin bucket hahahahahah.

EH I cannot read that whole thing right now, got a stomach ache hardcore. But all I know is that it was being told in some health magazines that they had to close down some of the KFC's in Europe. And now in New York or Chicago (canot remember) they cannot open a resturant because they don't meet the food standards for health that have been set there.
I will edit this when I return in a bit. PS: If you are reading this before I return, I swear you edited what I wrote about education. I had written it is the way of life we are brought up in, you cannot argue just one part when it connects with others. That is using something I didn't say instead of what I did say.

Funny thing about what US citizens should be called, technically, there is nothing to call us.
Origannaly, the US was supposed to be several individual states, united under one goal of freedom (like how several countries unite under the UN). Alas, that all changed after the Civil War, when it threatened the stability of the US. But essentially, US Citizens were origanally supposed to be called by the state from which they hold natural residance (for instance, I'm Texan), but current morals nullify that. Origanally, all people of the American contenant were called Americans; however, some people a couple centuries ago mistook the term American as refereing to US citizens only. Although American is supposed to mean US citizens, it really means anyone born on the contenant of America, just as the writers of the constitution ment. (Dictionaries say otherwise, but with age, proper terms become archaic.)
