Ok, so recently I've been having some problem with my intarwebs. I use IE (because I don't like Firefox) and whenever I turn my computer on it seems to lag...a LOT. I let everything load, and even let any update confirmations pass as well. (which takes anywhere from 5-30 minutes) But, when I try to open my browser, it starts to move really slowly, and any other applications I have up start to hiccup. I've done it on several occasions with WMP open, and the music skips sufficiently, and I know it's the browser because when I close it, everything resumes as is. So, I'm asking any of the computer proficient people here why this is and what I can do to fix it, or if it is just my browser.
P.S. Whenever I close it and bring up a new window, it doesn't do it at all, if that helps.

sounds like adware, viruses, ect.
To remove them, run the scans. That should take care of it(also, before running the scans, disable system restore and boot into safemode) To make sure you don't get it again, don't use IE.

Start > Run > msconfig
Click "Selective Startup" Then click the "Startup" tab (top right) Check each startup item with google, if it's not needed, remove it. Might take a while doing it manually but it's worth it in the end. There's also the usual things like Defragging, changing the windows theme to classic, removing wallpaper, deleteing everything you dont need then defragging some more... What TLM said is great. If you don't have time to Google each one, check it using this site. It'll give a brief description of the program and what it does. http://www.tasklist.org/tasklist_p.html
If you don't find anything, get a trail version of NOD32 or Kaspersky. Or, just use Firefox from now on. You might hate it, but it's more secure then IE. IE has countless exploits available, while Firefox has only two, both of which have been patched (not sure). If you like the look of IE, then there are some extensions available. Google "Getting Firefox to look like Internet Explorer", and you might find some interesting things.

Opera is also another option for him.
Not for me, but he may like it.

Uhh... To be honest, I don't think you know wtf you're doing when you run your computer.
I also think your anti-virus soft-ware SUCKS. So... Go to Stop Sign if you computer is acting ZWIERD. Anyways... I've never had a problem like that with IE, Assuming you have the new version as do I. Though I never run music because my computer just dies. WMP hates my computer. Until I fix it up which as you prolly know... is taking way to ****ing long, what? All I need is a 512MB memstick of RAM, then I don't have to worry about running all my shit as it collapses upon itself and my screen explodes meanwhile my USB ports sprout lava and my drives shoot shards of plastic from exploding CDs. Quote:
HOWEVER... his computer is pretty damn good and it shouldn't need all that, though defrag =/= bad idea. He doesn't have much shit on his computer that needs to be deleted (I would know) I think a nice getting a new browser would be a good idea, I don't know why he hates FireFox because it's actually a lot faster than IE. Though IE is prettier, as is Windows Vista... wait... Did you get that Windows Vista thing...? If you did you might wanna check that out...
