Sometimes.
Sometimes it just doesn't do anything but help me reflect on the fact that I'm pissed off. So it doesn't really calm me down. But if it's DragonForce then almost IMMEDIATELY I'll become less mad or not mad at all. I'd also say it depends on the type of metal.

I don't listen to any type of metal at all.
I just don't like how it sounds, although the lyrics are catchy at times. I've tried listening to DragonForce, Metallica, and other-like bands or whatever; I just don't like how it sounds. >.<; |

Metal makes me angry or enhances my bad mood. I can only enjoy it when I'm in a mood that blows already, otherwise I need more upbeat music. Dragonforce is tricky though, I can swing either way because it gives me energy.
