The good thing about Asura is, you HAVE to melee them, or else you're severely outclassed and you're just wasting time before they can kill you 100%. So melee classes are forced to get in there and confront the Asura. If you take your time and wait, you'll let fire wave and the 40 skill cooldown, which is bad enough on its own, but when you let the 45 move cooldown, the Asura wins. This move can 100% anyone who does not have insane HP or huge magic defense when maxed, and at this point you won't even have all of your HP left either. Even having just 3 balls can send you on your way out if you're roughed up a bit already.
Asuras play like a ticking timebomb, and if you can't defuse it before some 40 seconds or so, you're most likely going to lose. |

Fire wave isn't really a problem if u stick vertically close to the asura too.
What I usually do is to outpace an asura and force him to use skills in advance to try "hitting me" when I'm decoying movements. Having annoying skills like RX-78 helps too, surprisingly, as decoys, the main aim being you want the asuras to attack or run away from the rx. In the case of the lvl 45 skill I have managed to negate it before with my soultaker several times with the cheap level 40 instant skill.(Soultakers are cheap I admit and I maxed out ghost step, even cheaper) If you have a good idea of the circular range around the asura, you can practically dodge all the attacks including the lvl 45 balls, taking advantage of their sluggish movements. Additionally to note, the lvl 45 balls of doom is only 350 pixel effect(175 pixel up and down), I think. This as compared to multi headshot which has 660 pixel effect (330 up and down)is clearly showing how outmatched in range it really is. Well this is in the case for rangers though. If the opponent plays safe and stays within the vertical axis of the asuras when your balls have been recharged, you kinda tend to try and rush things and get as near to the opponent as possible to unleash it. This is when faster classes like Spitfires can take advantage and retreat + snipe (another imba and super gay skill- I reeeeeaaallllyyyy hope they nerf this bullcrap skill) I'm nit picking here on potentially hazardous classes but yeah if it were against WMs, Berserkers, various Fighter classes and even Priest classes, I do believe that asuras are insanely good against them. Then again, not many players know how to act while in the heat of pvp, tending to go with the flow. I usually write notes on papers relating to how other players counterattack and stuff since I'm pretty much a rookie pvper. Anyways most good asuras I see in pvp tend to be those with legacy sets and really high move speed ops, in addition to accessories that are like... plus 7 or higher. Magic is the bane of asuras, even the steely armor won't help. And the thing to say you have to melee asuras...well that's only if the opponent is a pure melee class. I don't think elementalists can melee very well... can they? Due to the fact that you need to invest in rather expensive equips (weapons are cheap) to be effective is the factor putting me off from making an asura in the beginning. Lack of continuous flashy combos as well, since asuras are rather boring to take a video of. Only Arad players can come up with weird stuff like this

Well, you say you have no experience as an Asura, and you're a "rookie" at PVP. I've had an Asura (who was centered around PVP) and am an avid PVPer, so trust me on this. Plus I've fought quite the number of x-zone ranked Asura, at times higher than that.
As far as "pick up and play" value goes for Asura, they're absolutely terrible and possibly one of the worst classes in PVP. Go in PVP on a poorly equipped Asura or a build that isn't centered around PVP, and you're going to get destroyed instantly. Have good gear? PVP centered build? Asura is one of the biggest threats overall in PVP, having almost no classes that can have a sure win against them. I'm not talking about Asura in general, I'm talking about people who know what they're doing, and PVP often. None of my experience comes from anything but channel 53, usually against ranks above 8 dan when I'm fighting Asuras. Asura counteract their terrible movespeed by having a movespeed pet and generally a rare avatar with move speed shoes. This instantly lets them keep up with most classes and in terms of Katana users, they can outrun you a lot of the time with leaps and triple slashes. People tend to think Asura don't have any combos, but thats far from the truth. All Asura at this level can connect an ice wave after knocking you down by simply using the small hitstun of a on the ground upper slash, which is the main center of their offense. With cast speed avatars (all Asura who are serious about PVP have them) and max Release Wave (again, they all have it) they can easily connect a Fire Wave after their Release and combo into something else after that. Release Wave > Fire Wave (at this point the enemy comes flying back at you due to the splash hit of the wave) > 40 skill > Upper Slash > Ice Wave > doesn't even matter, you're already going to be dead no matter what they do after this. This is also assuming they don't catch you in the 45 skill anywhere in that combo, in which case you just lost anyway. Asura aren't about poking and throwing out skills, they tend to save their skills until they can link them together. So yeah you're right, the average Asura, possibly one of the worst PVP classes. As a heads up, they did nerf Kneel Sniping, and Battle Mage is possibly one of the easier classes for Asura to beat. Quote:
