I personally like blowing stuff up with chasers and smacking them with my palm rush ^_^

But yeah, at lower levels, summoners aren't all that grand, but later on, they become wtfpwnage and annoying in PvP. Provocation doll ftw in there.

Found some purple colored items. Are they good, should I sell them in a player shop or just break them for cubes?

It pays to note that if you are a mage of any kind, and you plan to fight in pvp, getting Provocation Doll to level 1 will positively save you from any summoner. At least this has been my experience.

It will ALSO keep those DAMNED robots off of you when they waddle in to explode in your face.

So it's worth considering, regardless of what kind of mage you are.

I'll put it to you this way. If it's not at least level 25 it ain't worth jack doodoo. If it's pink text, you MAY get some money out of it.

You can, and I have, but everyone's leveling experience is different. I recommend that you get a powerleveler. One of these guys here will probably be willing to take your character out for an entire day's worth of stress, provided you have them sponsor you.
