why thank you for replying to my post
unlike some others who decide to talk about + stats on weap/armor D:< btw, would it be wise to max those skills that you've mentioned? or would i need to max them for some other skill's prerequisite req. bah~ starting a new game can be so confusing. i ask too many question ;x~ oh oh, one last one: what is the main difference between all of the 2nd jobs (of a magician)~? too lazy to look it up .__.;;; if only the priest was a girl... </3

@Kimmi
Well don't worry about maxing or not as your skill points will automatically reset when you job change for the first time. What I did was get the uppercut (Z) attack to level 5 and get the cancel move later. The stabbing attack (-> + Z) I just left it at level 1 to push mobs away. Also for palm push, level 1 is fine for pre-mage. I maxed out Summon Hodor as much as I could as it's able to stun once u have Hodor level 5, I think, and it's good as a tanker. For the magic skills I suggest maxing Magic Missile, but that's just my opinion. You can get the elementalist skills, light flourescent and max it out or lantern fire with aerial lantern fire later. If you do, be sure to get backstep and backstep cancel as you can combo with aerial lantern. Btw, once you're level 18 and you job change, don't pump back your pre-mage skills. You need a new build by then for either battlemage, elementalist, magic scholar or summoner. The other onrpg board members should be able to help out here. As for the second part, I don't really get it. Basically Mage can become either battlemage, elementalist, magic scholar or summoner and from there they all take different paths, and each have their own specific awakening(magic scholar still in the works though). The only mage class I have with awakening is Moon Empress aka Summoner awakening. Sweetness, cash item discount event !

yea x)~ i know you'll have to change skills for the 2nd job (since i was browsing around the class area of the main website),
but what i'm asking is what is the main roles of each? as in, for example, battle mage specializes in nuking whereas moon expresses uses summons to help them fight, etc~ [sankyu for the basic skill explanation, btw~] also, do you know of a good korean dnf fansite? i've looked and the first three i found doesn't seem to have broad guides on mages *A*;;;~ |

So well, elementalist nuking large areas, battlemage good at evasive movements and hard hitting with chasers combo, summoner good at... summoning >.> and magic scholars are kinda like the mix of all the other 3 I guess... capable of melee combat as well as support combat. And if you have doubts about skills, why not just post it here. I'm quite okay with any mage class except elementalist, since I don't have an ele. Or you can chat on msn if you want... though i'm ingame most of the time with NaDa

what supporting skill of scholar are you guys talking about o.o? i use a scholar and i don't see any supporting skills for parties? and for melee, only if you choose to max one of the broom enchant skill or else the melee ability is just so-so. but scholars are great at running away, in fact the best class at escaping from mobs in stage or players in war xD
i would say the scholar is great at aoe stuff since lvl 20. the way i play scholar is: cast a spell -> runaway -> cast a spell -> runaway ->cast a spell.....yeah im noob ![]() another build for pre-job change is - in order of importance: 1). lvl up the snowman's head skill as soon as an upgrade is availible - donno the name, but it has a slow/freezing/aoe effect when charged up. You can change the height and direction of this skill; this will own all the annoying jumping monkeys. it will be your main offensive skill. 2). lvl up the summoning skill as soon as an upgrade is availible - must if you ever wanna solo bosses without dying. increase your survivability by alot 3). max ancient library - unlimited mp right here. Probably not useful anymore after job change. 4). max aura shield - not sure if the spelling is correct. it absorbs the damage by 1/3, the mp will be reduced by the amount. due to ancient library, you don't need to worry about mp. even more survivability right here. 5). pump a few lvls into Whip skill or magic missile - u want 1 lvl for Whip at least for faster boss killing and knock the mobs, explained below. for soloing bosses, you can combo with your summon. the way to do it is to stand on the same "line" with ur summon so the boss will follow neither you or your summon onto the same "line", then whip your summon at least once to increase his attack/move speed - this way you and ur summon can attack it at same time non-stop. if your summon stuns the boss - with a small knocking back effect, then try to attack the boss from the opposite with any skill or just normal attack to knock him back to ur summon's attack range. You will kill boss really quick this way by knocking him back and forth while he gets stunned all the time. the only time you will need to use magic missile is when you are fighting neither ice sorceress boss or zombie boss. I were always alone which is how i discovered this great soloing strategy, i was able to solo zombie on master's road without dying before i had the job change. the choice of armor will be blue cloth for a big boost on your magic spells, and the choice of weapon is always a up-to date short stick for quick attacks or the big staff from the lvl 16/17 mage-only quest. To summarize, this build is all about the high/highest survivability while doing fairly good damage at aoe/crowd control and bosses.

Lava Potion = slows enemies down and does DoT Acid Rain = lowers enemies defenses and does DoT Fluore Collider and Mega Drill are decent damage and excellent at pinning down mobs and bosses respectively Ancient Library (with friendly fluorescent) = You can cast it on party members to give them some MP in a pinch (if you're not selfish like me ) In addition, most of their skills are inconsistent and many have really terrible startup times, so they benefit from a party as much as a party benefits from them And if you're meleeing with a scholar you'd naturally aim to have a powder up; that goes without saying. With an up-to-level Death Powder at 50 I hit for around 1400-1800~ in north myre and can crit up to around 2600~.

Scholars also great for comedies, they are the natural comedians in the game.
Physical scholars are actually good and have pretty nice range to boot and as ashu has said, powder ups can really make melee combat potent and the leather mastery helps as well with stat boosts in attack speed. Of course you need to pump certain skills that you wouldn't really pump in a Cast and Run type build, mainly Battlemage skills. (Don't need to pump a lot though, maybe uppercut yeah) I find Broom Spin devastating if used properly and in parties it can really help do that needed extra damage and knockdown enemies too. Some of the precautions of doing broom spin, especially in boss rooms, is to make sure that you have phase shift ready to use since it kinda leaves you defenceless when u land and sometimes confused.
