do you need to buy GW to play the expansions?
yea do u need to buy Guild Wars to play like Nightfall, Factions and etc?
P.S. What is Guild Wars Prophecies? is it the original or an expansion? because i tried to look at it at www.gamestop.com and it wasnt there. Last edited by aznxrc2o6; 04-24-2007 at 07:10 AM. |

No,
all you need to do is buy them, propechies has heroes, Faction more PVP based Nightfall i dunno...wait is it nightfall that has heroes? i forgot.. currently im playing faction

They are all stand-alone games. They all have the same gameplay but each has diffrent features and story-lines.
Prophecies is the first Guild Wars, which is the most basic of them all, 6 core classes, moderate PvP and PvE. Factions is the second Guild Wars, which has the most PvP features + 2 new classes, Assassin and Ritualist. Nightfall is the third installment and is most based on PvE, in which Heroes come in. Heroes are like Henchmen, only thing diffrent is that you get to equip them and choose their skills. Also there's two new classes, Paragon and Dervish. And no, you don't need any of the others to be able to play one of the games. Though, to be able to venture into the other lands you need to buy the rest. |

We seriously need to incorporate all the Guild Wars information into ONE thread so that people can stop repeating the same questions. I think this is the tenth or so time i'm seeing a thread which asks about technicalities instead of gameplay.

uherm. well yeah like they said. they're called 'STAND ALONE EXPANSIONS' meaning they don't require prophecies. ALTHOUGH let me say this, GUILD WARS EYE OF THE NORTH is going to be an EXPANSION meaning it requires prophecies, factions, or nightfall :] just a heads up.

and to clean things up futher. eye of the north only needs ONE of the stand alones. doesnt matter which one
and buying it sorta seems pointless since GW2 is being made and taking place 100-200 years after GW, lol. |
