I hear you people all complaining about flaming... well with Runescape, flaming isn't bad.
Today I logged on (cuz I took a break from MapleStory) but had no armor on and someone randomly calls me a noob.
Every new player is a begger. If someone begs to you, don't get mad... yet. You still have thousands of more people to deal with.

And here's where I really go flammable
Today I was temporary banned (for 1 day) because someone thought I scammed them. I had a gameshow to win 10k and he won 5 times. No one wanted him to play anymore. So he sticks around thinking he's playing when I clearly told him he wasn't playing. He says he wins but he's not playing. He reports me and I get really mad when Jagex bans my account.

I tell Jagex the truth and heres exactly what they say...

Whoa... You guys must really have bad charisma or you arent very likable. Whenever I 'do' get on Runescape I almost never meet rude people. You just gotta takl to them, be their buddy and they'll be yours aswell. Just coming up to someone and asking for something, when you dont even known the person, is kinda rude.

Though there are people that'll give a helping hand. I've helped plenty of people without giving them freebies, I could if I wanted but I would perfer that people earn things themselfs. Anyways, the point is tht the community isnt that bad as you all make it seem. Sure you might have had bad experences on there but so have plenty of others and they dont mind. People have bad days and some are just jerks.

There 'is' an ignore feature, you'know?

So even if someone annoyd you than you can ignore them and talk to those that arent annoying you. Trust me, there are more of these people than you think, you just gotta 'talk' to them and the such.

Looking at this thread kind of makes me sad that this was my first MMO xD Back then (not sure if it's still true now) most of the people I attempted to talk to or that talked to me were either rude or perverted. One of the weird things is that randomly, out of nowhere, guys would come up to me and ask me to be their girlfriend. Then they move on to the next girl they see when I ignore them o.O That alone almost tempted me to make a guy character =.=;; Not saying all the people are mean or perverted, there were a few people I met that were very nice and helpful. But all in all I've learned that fansites and databases are very useful Maps ftw. Saves a lot of trouble of needing to ask people too
