Satoru Iwata: We'd love to have Kutaragi
Posted Apr 28, 2007 at 01:40PM by Kristine C. Now, who would have thought it? According to the German gaming site GameFront, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun has released a report about a press conference which has just been held by Nintendo. As most press conferences go, the Nintendo officials spoke about upcoming game titles, the financial gains of the company, movements and plans in general. However, one simple statement from Nintendo President Satoru Iwata made the event a whole lot more exciting. According to the Japanese newspaper, Iwata stated that they "would love to see Kutaragi join up with Nintendo". Now, this may generate a lot of reactions, but then again, how this will all develop would be nothing short of interesting. After all, Kutaragi's honorary position at Sony isn't exactly a very active office, and The Father of Playstation has also stated in recent interviews that his next ventures would mostly be independent from Sony, so there MAY be a good chance that he'll take Nintendo up on his offer. After all, it cannot be denied that Kutaragi has a long history with Nintendo, since he IS the guy who gave the SNES the gift of sound, via the SPC700 chip which he designed. However, considering the fact that Kutaragi was also once badly slighted by Iwata's predecessors (think: Hiroshi Yamauchi, CES 1989, and a botched Play Station announcement... note the space in between "Play Station"), one can't really tell what Crazy Ken will do next. I would say nothing. o.O
It seems completely illogical to abandon a very secure position in a major gaming company, to take up a lesser position, in another major gaming company. Seems like the logical thing to gather from his statement, where he willed to "pursue future endeavors", is that he would move on from the gaming world, into a different field of work. He left Sony on good terms, after all, nothing to suggest that he isn't happy with the way things were being done. On the other hand, there were several changes in positions of power made within the company, and there could be more to the situation than meets the eye. Only time will tell, I suppose. |

Why are they playing the "us too" game?
First Reggie says they were going to secure the little bigplanet developers before Sony and, now they want the man who has spent almost 11 years making Nintendo systems like garbage? Jesus, whats next? If David Jaffe died would they say they should get his lifeless body? What ever happened to quiet Nintendo? I liked them when they said nothing and made 4 million Mario spin-offs.' Nintendo had never been quiet. They'd only been the most cunning and calculating of all developers. So chill with the fanboyism. |

Samus is not a lesbian (at least not to our knowledge), and Link is not gay, in the context of the word 'gay' that you are implying. Also, your stupid comment about the Wii and tennis elbow is just that: extremely stupid. I should warn you for instigating flames, but I'll let it slide because I'm a nice guy.

Why is it? I'm just going off the facts that were printed in the news, hell even Nintendo warns their users of such things. |
