Pardon me, moderators, if I have posted in the incorrect forum. I am currently looking for a team (of maybe 3-7 members) to write a 15-25 chapter novel. Currently, I am in the thinking stages. Everything is up for debate: Title, Chapters, Genre, Pages, etc. I am taking this seriously. Please, no jokes, flames or spam. I know this post is short, but mostly everything is explained in the above sentences.
Requirements: Nothing lower than 9th grade. (I am in 11th) (This can be appealed if you have a 9th grade or higher vocabulary) Must have a writing sample. (Can be submitted in the form of poetry, a short story, or any form of a writing sample) Must be willing to dedicate your time to this project. Must be willing to give up personal information. (For crediting purposes) Any form of writing is acceptable. Usually I am a writer of a dark and/or sexual nature. But I am willing to conform to the writing abilities of my team. I can't stress enough how serious I am taking this. Thank you for your time. Akira Kurayami ![]() Oh yes, you can contact me on Akira@bloodonbinary.com on MSN or Digi Enteri on AIM. Stephen King has written a number of gruesome short stories, novels, screen plays, and some less popular works in non-fiction, yet the tantalizing fact is that people like scary. What scares people? This has crossed King’s mind many of times, I’m sure, and it’s obvious that he’s found the key. This is not a metaphorical key, rather a sustainable key that lies in King’s possession. This key can be used to open many prized belongings. One of which being his office. Inside his office there is a desk, and on that desk happens to be a jar with a young boy’s heart inside. Some people say that Stephen King is a terrible person. Depicting King as terrible (keep in mind that his refined, abnormal tales often leave you nauseous) is an understatement. Oh, what a sick, demented mind that lies within King’s cerebellum makes me ponder. How can someone such as the second son of Donald and Nelly King from Portland, Maine write with these stupendous amounts of terror? And how could so many people enjoy this as entertainment? Better yet, where does this evil come from? You could say he has a way with words, but I’d like to put it as words have a way with him. King’s words almost always come out as though they are the law of the land. Take this quote for instance: “It’s better to be good than evil, but one achieves goodness at a terrific cost.” -Stephen King Stephen King’s undeniable evil is so appealing but at the same time, a bit horrifying. His creativity gene pool is filled to the rim, heavily chlorinated, and packed by unknowing visitors wading in the shallow water while a devious killer lurks in the shadows devising King’s next novel. King just watches from a distance, posing as a lifeguard, jotting down every last detail to the highest degree of intelligence known to society. In the midst of it all at 60 years old, Stephen King is an amazing writer. I’m not going to say that he writes with animosity towards the morals known to you and me, but he doesn’t exactly kindle to them either. Despite that we aren’t all brilliant when it comes to writing, those with an eighth grade education and above should be able to interpret other people’s writings although huge amounts of people continue to buy his books and watch his movies. Is it that we need something other than the daily routine: so we strive for suspense? Do we long for events in our own life connected with King’s works? Or is it that we flock for the reading of mortality rather than the reading of morality? I don’t think that Stephen King is doing the only scaring because after reading the former statement, I don’t see how you wouldn’t be scaring yourself. Stephen King is thought to be one of the scariest writers to many of people. Take a look at this example: “Some people think that I am terrible, but it is not true. I have the heart of a young boy in a jar on my desk.” -Stephen King What fascinates me is that one man can manipulate two sentences into such a dreadful thought. When taken literally his degree of perversity and thoroughness is, at the least, troubling. The wickedness in every phrase makes the sentences he forms even more obscene. However, a conviction of evil would be indecent and writing in this form deserves a eulogistic standing ovation. While Stephen King is not worthy of praise, per se, in his own words: I am the literary equivalent of a Big Mac and Fries.* *-Stephen King Last edited by Mr. First Name Basis; 05-05-2007 at 12:47 AM. |

I changed my mind. Read my essay. BTW the paragraphs aren't right because they didn't come out right when I copied and pasted it. Also I know, at the end, I used alot of big words and left little room for context clues so sorry for those who are unknowing of those words. Sorry.

I'm fairly intrigued by this, Akira. I've been debating writing my own story for some time now, and even wrote a few chapters of an idea I'd been having for some time. I'm not sure if I have the time, nor want to devote myself to something on such large a scale, but I would like to talk to you more about this in detail, if you'd like.
Just hit me up on Str1der3 via AIM and I'll try and hook you up with whatever you might need. |
