A persons aura is not a visible spectrum of light. I fear that's a misconception caused by hollywood. If it were a visible spectrum, you would see it, and so would everyone else. If it were an invisible spectrum of light (ultra violet, infrared, etc) you couldn't see it, but special lenses could (by the way, you'd never be able to see it, regardless of exercises or how many times you blinked.) What you saw was an optical illusion caused by straining your eyes; kinda like hearing that high pitched hum when the room is completely silent.
Auras can be detected, but not with your eyes. Therefore, they don't "look" like anything. In order to see anything on that level, you have to use what is commonly called the "sixth sense" or ESP (sometimes the 3rd eye, but that is a poor term due to its misuse of the word "eye"). These images can't effectively be described because its not a sense that we've properly defined. It'd be like asking someone to explain what red sounds like or what the sound of a bell tastes like. P.S. Chi is real, but also misunderstood. The chinese mapped chi lines long before the nervous system was mapped. Later they discovered that the nervous system, however, was a perfect match. Yes, its real, but its not quite as mystic as people might think. At least, no more mystical than electricity.
