Harvest Moon has been a cult classic series for over a decade, and to celebrate its 10-year anniversary Natsume has something special in store for gamers. Produced by Yoshifumi Hashimoto, Rune Factory is a DS-exclusive title that takes the world of Harvest Moon and turns it upside down in a unique fantasy world. Now a balance of crop-harvesting, animal-tending, and monster battling, Rune Factory promises to deliver traditional Harvest Moon gameplay with a peculiar twist.

"'Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon' is a blend of the Harvest Moon series and a mythical RPG. Some of the fundamental features found in the Harvest Moon series, such as growing crops, tending livestock, making friends and getting married are in Rune Factory. In addition, Rune Factory also has some new elements normally not found in a Harvest Moon title, such as the battling of monsters, a complex storyline and living in a fantasy world."
"You have stumbled upon the town of Kardia and found kindness in a woman named Mist, who helps you out by setting you up on a farm she no longer uses. Normally a peaceful land, the caves surrounding Kardia have recently become infested with monsters. You start on your journey to find out what is behind this and you try to build a new life for yourself."

Looks interesting. Harvest moon games are fun, tending to your livestock and crops, but now a added RPG element with monsters and possible quests etc. I'll be keeping my eye on this

but it could be great or a total flop.

What ya think?

I think even tough they change the original setting of harvest Moon it might be a good change. It's a real shame that I do not own a DS. =(

That sounds awesome. I thought HM was to kiddy for me, but now with battling monsters, Im buying that for sure.. When does it come out?

Sounds like an interesting idea, lets see if they can make it fun enough.

Cool, comes out July 17th. Can't wait to try it out. I wonder if it will be wifi, and if you still do the same things like in harvest moon after you beat this main quest.

from what i see in the video, you can capture wild animals for your farm.
protect your animals from beasts. and continue doing the normal harvest moon things.

I think it will be a re-playable game.

while we're on the subject of Harvest Moon, theres also a Harvest Moon Online rumoured for PC but its probably just a rumour.
