Default Got to love Virgin Media...

Whilst enduring yet another depressing and pointless week-end of websurfing alone, I was informed by my ISP that they will once again be increasing my connection speed for the fifth time in two years. Last month my connection was increased from 2MB to 10MB, and now they are increasing it to 20MB. Due to Sky removing their most popular channels from the cable provider, they are trying everything to make their customers stay with them. They have even started selling pay-per-view blockbuster films at 1p.

All good for me though, I don't even watch Sky One. I also (still) get unlimited downloads, so things are finally looking up! In a way.

But I guess this just means I can download my hardcore homosexual pornography and classic 80's TV shows twice as fast though...

Hmm, 20Mb... You can get 24 with BE...

I was going to get sky, but now that Virgin media do 20mb, I might change to them.

Current the one I'm using is a pitifully slow 2MB...

To get the 24mb from BE, you'd have to set up a tent right next to the exchange, seriously.

For 24mb? I'd do that...

Depends where the exchange is however...

well we used to have telwest before virgin took over and destroyed all of the decent channels. virgin is charging us twice as much as sky normally would but are offering a crappier package. as much as i hate rupert murdoch virgin is just as bad. ever since our isp changed we've had nothing but problems.

It's not Virgin's fault Sky took the basic channels away like Sky One, and Sky News, they wanted to charge Virgin almost double for what they usually paid. Virgin are taking Sky to court over it again, and some customers are getting a price cut because of it.

I wouldn't worry too much, for all the goodies we're getting for free (Virgin Central, TV On Demand, Catch Up on Demand and 20MB connection). we will also get those Sky channels back in a few months.

well before virgin came along telwest already had a service where you could watch tons of programs on demand, it was called TeleportTV and it was cool. virgin on demand is kinda crappy since the selection of shows has decreased, i dont really like it. we were going to change over to sky but the idiots cancelled twice on us when they were supposed to send someone round so we thought sod it. i just think its stupid that two huge multinationals have to act like little kids.

on the plus side its my parents who used to have sky tv at their house so it actually doesnt affect me except when im back home. also, lol @ the sky propaganda war trying to vilify virgin media for 'stealing' sky programs away from customers.
