Default Help Icy choose a bike.

Alright, I'll only post when I need help.

As the title obviously shows, I'm looking for a new bicycle ( aka. Bike )
I dont have any specific "kind" of bike but I think a Mountain Bike would suit me best.

Here's one I scouted from Walmart -
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...Specifications
Quote:
26" Men's Mongoose H-Team Dual Suspension Bike:
4-bar aluminum dual suspension frame
Rock Shox Dart 1 suspension fork
25.5" carbon-wrapped fat bars
Ahead stem
ProMax dual disc brakes
24-speed trigger shifter system
Custom camo wheels
Alloy seat post with quick release
Weight: 42 lbs.
Here's one from Canadian Tire-
http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...=1178424796523
Quote:
Dual suspension steel frame
Twenty-four speed rotary grip shift
Shimano front derailleurs
Mechanical front disc brake
We recommend bikes be professionally assembled
Juding by these two, are they well. juding on looks and the specification. As I know nothing about bicycle..... I have the choice of buying bikes from Walmart, Canadian Tire, Zellers or other bike shop. However, bike shops usually scores above 1000$ for what i want.

What I want or hope to have -

- Dual suspension ( One on the front wheel and another on the back )
- Dual Disk Break ( not those small plastic thingy that turns ur rim black )
- Speed trigger shifter system ( One click = one speed change. Not those turn the hell and break the chain)
- Ranging maximum to 800$ canadian.

-I dont mind buying a normal bike and go change some stuff at a bike shop but teach me.

My part of the world - Canada-> Quebec-> Montreal-> Brossard.

Try to suggest me a bike that is within my reach. Buying a bike 30miles away will kill me as I need to make it back home.

Thanks thanks.

Dude the latter is better. In my opinion thou i would rather bum a ride off my parents rather than riding around on my bike. But thats just me.

Off topic: how the hell can you ride that pink bike? not because it's pink, but the seat and handlebars comparing to the size of it.

On topic, I would say the second one.

Because they were adjusted.

ontopic: Go with the 2nd one. Just don't get red...red is ugly. So is blue or green. But a white/silver/black one would be BALLIN

I would get the Canadian Tire one. Mongoose bikes suck these days.

***** I would sell you my old GT if you want to do some minor repairs on it...It ran around $1600 new, I will sell it to you for $800...I can put it up on ebay if you like...its a sick bike, but I was ripping it apart to build a single speed, but ended up buying one...honest to god, its a great bike...if your intrested I could post specs and such, so you could check them with someone or an online source...its an Idrive 1.0 I think...whatever used to be the top of the line...dad works at a bike shop, so he buys me bikes for every holiday ; Honest to god, I could ship it out to you and everything, I was just thinking of packing it up and ebaying it this morning...no real damage to it, I didn't ride it too long, because I ride freestyle and it was too heavy for me...its a god of a bike...let me know! (PS> Bikes from a bike shop are 100% worth it O__O)

Edit: I will haggle on the price, since it needs repairs also (all it really needs is a new set of shifters...honestly, let me know)

Go for the Canadian Tire one, and if you can afford it, switch off the front shock to Rock Shoks or RSTs.
But if you are going for looks, get the Mongoose one. Its facking badass looking.
