Close Beta 1 Delayed till End of October.
On June 20th was the actruly sign up for a F&F(Friends and Family) Secret Close Beta Test, where only friends and family of NCSoft members can play the game from June 28th to June 29th. While they do the check ups on the latest up-to-date AION Client and such, a Public Close Beta Test(CBT) will be schedule on August while the Pubic CBT Sign up will be schedule on July 31st. Sign up might last for around 5 days, only 2000 testers will be accepted. And CBT Game Start might start shortly after on the 1st week of July.

the graphical detail of AION rivals that of lineage 2's, and with lineage 3 production halted, this may well be ncsoft's next cashcow

Maybe because the game had the involvement of NcSoft

Well, Lineage 3 had to be halted when 7 of the team members quit and gave the source code to a japanese company.

As for Aion I'm not sold on it yet as I don't see anything in it better than Perfect World yet other than graphics and you need a beefy machine to push those to a respectable point I'd wager.

back to the topic of Aion, I'm just gonna wait till the English closed beta :P im to lazy to figure out all of the commands in korean lol

Well, as far as I know it's still under investigation as of like April/May or so. The story is basically seven of the team members quit and then went to apply at a Japanese gaming company. As part of "showing their skills" one of the programmers showed off the code to Lineage 3 which was suspected of being copied then. It is also suspected that the original game designs and outline were shared via e-mail and that it was sent to the same company and other net locations. Many think this has happened because previously the Senior Game Designer on the project was fired for poor leadership skills. After they fired him nobody on the project team wanted to work for NCSoft anymore. They're still trying to recover from this.

ok so i thought they were gona announce the CBT date on the 20th, but it seens NCsoft was just gona announce their new FPS game not AION CB...
