All other professions can have their uses as a secondary to an ele primary. Some examples of uses that I know of:
Monk - self-heal / party heal, hard rez, Balthazar's Aura/Essence Bond for solo farming Ranger - stances (Storm Chaser) for energy gain, Serpent's Quickness for faster recharge of skills Necro - complements well in their hex / enchant skills, necro's relatively high cost of spells are offset by Energy Storage. Mesmer - energy management in the Inspiration line. Also Sympathetic / Ancestor's Visage are staples in solo e/w terra-tank builds. Warrior - fun times going E/W battlemage! Dangerous from afar, dangerous in melee too. Assassin - Shadow Form! solo FoW heheh plus added mobility. Ritualist - erm. none that I know of, but I'm sure there's others who have gone this way. Paragon - has lightning magic line: lightning spear + conjure lightning = good ranged attacker Dervish - derv enchantments complement well with the ele, adds more survivability. My Melonni usually is a Dervish / Ele for the water line: armor of mist, conjure frost, Glyph of Lesser Energy to go with that Icy Soulbreaker of Enchanting. From personal experience, I'd go monk or mesmer for initial secondary. Anyway, once you've ascended, you can change your secondary profession at will. So, experiment away! You can then choose to buy / cap which skills from the new secondary you need to complete your build. I have an ele/monk build for farming hydras and for general PVE, an ele/mesmer build for soloing UW (still learning it ), maybe will try out some ele/war battlemage builds as I'm sick of just flinging fireballs at the enemy. |

well if ur an ele it depends i like E/W because i never use heals anyways. then it lets me go all out on whatever im fighting i just get the battlemage armor and use max earth and max swordsmanship for survivability. but i usualy rely on party members to keep me alive. or go with fire to kill quikly by putting down burn and bleeding. and i use aura of restoration for heal hehe.
i prefer earth though. use unsteady ground or sand storm. eruption, aftershock, sever artery, and gash for attacks. and for everything else glyph of restoration, glyph of lesser energy, and aura of restoration. 10 swordsmanship and max or more of earth and energy storage. use runes if needed

well first before we give the advice, the wise thing to do is tell us if this is for PvE or PvP? and if this is a team build, what is your team's profession's and secondary profession? where are you? level? skills? which do you own. anyways there aren't best secondary professions. well if this is PvE go water or fire. if this is PvP then go air. i personally don't like earth although its viable in both PvE/PvP. hmm well secondary professions: [ considering you have acess to all professions]
warrior: nothing here really for you, just the tactics line for more defense, the only one you should get is bonettis defense or watch yourself, no energy adrenaline based skills. ranger: hmm, troll ungent, some spirits for energy regeneration and some unusual effects, and probobly a bow for pulling. unless you want to meat shield with a pet. necromancer: well just use elements. so blood can be used for wells. death nothing really there for you, and curses some may work, slowing the enemy down, curses and water magic hexes FTW. monk: good choice. for a hard ressurection, self heal, smiting = NO!, protection is good, makr of protection, reversal of fortune, mending touch, etc. mesmer: good energy management, good for echoing skills, good resistance with their mantra stances, and the illusion lines degeneration. assassin: shadow refuge, shadow stepping, and probobly some death arts skills, nothing else i can really think of. ritualist: maybe some restoration skills. monk is a better choice. if PvP you can combine glimmering mark with channeling on warriors, making them blind just keep spamming some moves. dervish: one of my favorites. you can use their wind prayers for running and more defense. you can use the earth prayers for more healing. mystic regeneration with aura of restoration and a attunement of an element is a good choice for 6 pips or regeneration for 20 seconds for a cheap cost, more enchantments well raise it by 3 depending what level you put the attribute to. paragon: nothing here really for you except 'THEY'RE ON FIRE' + Immolate for -50% damage or maybe less, i'd check but im too lazy. thats it.
