OK, to mess with all you some more, HERES SOME MORE NEWS!
But, it is quite awsome news in itself for all of us on the internet. A new internet protocol, DOCSIS 3.0, for cable is making it's way into the US, and it looks like it may get started by the end of this year. DOCSIS 3.0 is capable of pulling speeds of 160 MegaBits per secound download, and 120 upload. It also supports IPv6 Now, that speed is what the speed is out of one node, and would have to be split up among customers(like cable is normaly), but in Korea where this is currently implimented, one ISP was able to give speeds of up to 100MBps And then the support of IPv6 is also very important, and great news. This is because currently we are running out of IP addresses. We currently are on IPv4 which is a 32-Bit address, allowing up to 4,294,967,296 unique IP's. Many are already reserved for special purposes(about 288 million) and we are just running out of IP addresses. IPv6 is a 128-bit address, allowing 2^128(2 to the power of 128) or about 3.40282367 × 10^38 addresses. Basicly, a HUGE FOCKEN AMOUNT. Some estimate that it will allow "roughly 5,000 addresses for every square micrometer of the Earth's surface" Or, in simplier terms, every single damn tiny electronic device, down to each watch, could have it's very own IP address. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...customers.html Heres to more speed and more IP addresses
