Default Neil's interesting news: Friday edition

Haha, it's Friday! How great is that? And I don't even feel depressed! Amazing if you ask me, and Neil has a mass of news to force down your throats.

The Beatles music to come online, soon?

The Beatles putting their music online has been held up by a number of lawsuits, all of which have been settled recently. There was the settlement between Apple and Apple, and another settlement between Apple Corps and EMI. Either way, there's not a lot holding back the band at this point, so (we can only hope) it's a matter of time before they join the rest of the civilized world online.

Saint's Row for the Playstation 3 cancelled

The PlayStation 3 has little to look forward to in May or June; the system is primarily getting licensed games like Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers in the near future. While those games still may be good, one wishes for something that didn't have the curse of the movie adaption going against it. Saints Row was going to be a bright spot.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot, Happy Tree Friends and a new PC RPG from Sega

The first game featured some very scary face to face combat where you beat bums and other more supernatural enemies to death with your bare hands and various melee weapons you found in your environment. It wasn't for the faint of heart, and the sequel sounds like it will up the violence-factor:

You're still going to do most of your killing at close range, with baseball bats, metal pipes, and lengths of concrete-encrusted rebar, although there will be shotguns and other ranged weapons available as well. Sega is promising a newly designed combat system, however, with defensive and offensive "combo chains," as well as a new grappling system that will let you get even more up close and personal with your foes. In addition, new forensic tools will let you help solve the various murders that you're bound to stumble across in your quest. Sega also announced a multiplayer component to the game, along with a new PC IP that Gas Powered Games will be working on, as well as a Happy Tree Friends game for the Live Arcade and PC.

Windows Dreamscene cracked, now able to run on regular (even worse) Vista

The pointless "Windows Ultimate Extra" that is Windows Dreamscene, which lets you play video files as your desktop wallpaper, has been cracked and is able to run on Windows Vista.

Why you would want that, I don't know.

Windows Server Longhorn will be finally known as... Windows Server 2008!

In a page dedicated to the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2007, a link on the right-hand side of the page pointed to a reviewer's guide of not Windows Server Longhorn, but Windows Server 2008. The area in question has since been changed, but earlier today it contained a URL to the "Windows Server 2008 reviewers guide."

Don't ask why, I'm hoping it doesn't sell one copy, nevermind 2008 of them.

Anyway, that's all the pointless news for today. I'm off to listen to "The Police" albums and drink Sprite for the rest of the night.

It's quite abvious it would be 2008 or something like that. The server editions of windows has always been named after the year of it's release.

Anyway, the server edition has always been many times better than the desktop version.
Basicly the desktop version without all the bullshit. Server 2003 has been the best thing out of MS. Has the same capability's as XP, but where as XP can take up about 300MB on default install, 2k3 took up 98MB
And one will be seeing the same thing for 2k8.
It will be Vista, without the bullshit.
