just am looking for some ideas on mmorpgs.

wanting to know what draws everyone to these types of games?

just wondering looking into becoming a game maker myself

Welllllllllll, there are a bunch of answers to this one. Some people just need something to do. Others like the interaction between players. Some just like mindless grinding. Some want to be the best, maybe something they can't do in real life, but can in a virtual world. Some are just doing it because they think the whole idea of a virtual world is neat. A bunch do it because their friend/spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend is doing it as well.

There's not really one answer here, it's up to every person. There's probably been a poll about this taken somewhere before, but I've never seen one.

The big appeal of RPGs comes from the sense of progression and adventure. Unlike other genres, RPGs have a definitive progression system - you don't just practice and get better and the only way to show who is best is fighting one another, like in FPSes. People can just look at you and see "Oh, he's level 50 and I'm level 1, he's obviously stronger".

well i guess what i was wondering for those of you that do play these types of games what is it that make you want to play them perhaps for hours and hours on end.

i mean like for me it is the vast worlds and being able to hang with my friends while playing a cool game.

im just looking for ideas to work on for a new game.
