wanting to learn a computer language - General

hi, as the topic states i am interested in learning a compouter language, be it jacascript, C++, or python. What i want to know is where and how to start.

What is a good language to start on as an ABSOLUTE beginner, is there a way to get a free verion of the shell( or whatever its called that lets you imput the code) and could you link my to some decent tutorials, thats all i ask

abosolute beginner? As in, never touched code and don't know shit about it, not even how it's set up?

Q-Basic

simplest programming language there is.
Can't do a lot with it, but it's great to help you understand how the code functions in creating a final product.

Next up would be Visual Basic.

I made a version of space invaders in Visual Basic once.... thats about all you can do with it. :P

Although, it was based on Internet Explorer and I never did work out how to resize the viewing area properly on different resolutions... So it was pretty pointless. Five minutes it took.

I would have suggested HTML, but it would be pretty pointless. Just don't do what I tried to do and get a bunch of C++ books thinking you would understand it all, I didn't.
