Thanks!

As soon as the game is released on a live server it should give enough stuff to do to keep people happy, however the way we built the framework we can quite happily add new things to the game quickly. So like most mainstream MMOs tend to add new content every few weeks/months we will be constantly adding new items/quests/areas/creatures in the same way, rather than just making a game system that is set in stone the game dynamics and functionality will keep expanding, i cant really say much more at the moment but there are ALOT of things we would like to put into the game and just wont have time to do for the first release.

If you have any specific questions about the game feel free to ask away in our Question Thread in our Forums.

It sounds interesting....

By "walkable" map I mean that the world can be explored. For example, On The Damned Isle the world can be explored tile-by-tile so to get from point A to point B one actually needs to travel there. Pardus also has a "walkable" (or flyable) map. "Walkable" does not necessarily mean animation, just that there is a world view - a graphic representation of where in the world your character is located. Without a walkable world the game could be reduced to a ladder tourney, esp if the focus is on PvP.

Not really, with this thread you are in fact marketing the game and though you have no players yet, you are already involved with customer service. LOTRO has been marketed for nearly 3 years before release. "If you build it they will come" is probably the worsed slogan ever devised .... from a business point of view.... I prefer something like this: "if it's not yet built, but you market it, they will come and *wait* for the constuction to end and motivate you to a speedy completion.

Oh yes, i completley agree, however currently as we dont have that much media for you potential players im just keeping things on the low until i have more media the i can unveil.

I agree on the motivation, thats one of the main reasons why im posting here as i would like some activity on our forums as it is motivating for myself and others in the team, and also it gives us ALOT of feedback of what people want to see...

We currently have a tilebased travelling system, the screenshots you see previously of a map is the Region map, the region is made up of 3x3 tiles, however each region contains 6x6 areas. So the region map is just like an overview of the land. You acctually move around in the area map, which is a more detailed larger map of the current tile you are currently in. So there are plenty of areas to travel, you also travel in realtime so no waiting, although we may implement some waiting system later, although personally i prefer to move when i want and move there and then instead of waiting 5 mins or so. Also each region tends to have a few towns, which are safe areas that you can rest/level up or go shopping. You will be able to do alot more after the initial release such as talk to NPCs and other events, these are implemented but disabled at the moment until we enable the quest system fully.

let me ask a question is there going to be skills like woodcutting mining and like other crap once you get the game running and have the walkable maps?

be aware to get loads of people to play which might not be your goal yet its has to have loads of skills to it to just match up against runescape just to say lol

We will be wanting to implement a craftable skill system yes, i personally love crafting in games, if anyone used to play PW servers on NWN, alot of servers had some awesome crafting system in that. We would love to implement something like that and definatly will be able to in the future, however for now it wont be in the game.

Well isnt every Games goal to have lots of people playing, Runescape has been running for years, as have other games like adventure quest etc. We are not trying to compete with these games directly, however alot of MMO games share the same basic concepts so we are bound to be like other games from certain points of view. Meaning there will always be competition between web games, although the commercial games have to take competition alot more seriously...

What will make ours unique is some of the ideas we have further down the line for this game, however its pointless me discussing these ideas yet as we need the initial game to be up and running with players before we start putting out new features...

Thought i would ressurect the thread a bit, we are almost ready to do Alpha testing on the servers. The test server is online although its only got a minimal amount of content for the moment so we can begin testing...

Incase anyone is interested you can find our main website and most game related information @

http://www.phpmorpg.co.uk

You can get to the forums from there if you have any questions or whatever, we also have put the Uldervei server online for alpha testing and load testing, so dont expect a finished game. If you think you can spare a few minutes to test the game and give some feedback in the forums that would be great.

http://uldervei.phpmorpg.co.uk

We are planning on a name change as soon as we are out of alpha testing as "phpmorpg" was just our code name for the project, so sorry if its not an easy address to remember

Thanks for your time!
