GTO is a must watch. FLCL is a must watch. Neon Genesis Evangelion if your into getting your mind fucked with. Cowboy Bebop is really cool. Elfen Lied if you like lotsa blood and violence. |

I'm telling you. Crayon Shin Chan. Best casual show you'll ever watch. But if you're going to watch it, watch the Adult Swim dubbed version. The dialogue is hilarious.

For really good action I recommend the Rurouni Kenshin (OVA's), Ghost in the Shell (Any Movie or TV Series), Ergo Proxy, Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, Gunslinger Girl, and Trigun.
Other series I recommend for action/comedy: Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki (OVA's, TV Series 1 &2, Movies, GXP Spin-off), El Hazard: The Magnificent World, Record of Lodoss War, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Saber Marionette J, Visions of Escaflowne, Revolutionary Girl Utena (All Arcs), Gunsmith Cats, The Slayers, Ninja Scroll, Akira (Grandfather to modern otakus), Lain, Gungrave, Berserk, Battle Angel Alita, Outlaw Star, Vampire Hunter D... Could keep going on, but that is enough of an overload. Right now you still have Dragonball (Loved by millions, but hated by me), Bleach (Good, but average to me), Inu Yasha (Slow and boring to me), and Naruto (Vaguely better than DB/Z/GT to me) as the crowd favorites. You might even consider checking out Avatar: The Last Airbender which has a loyal following and isn't Japanese made, but very much so inspired.
