im trying to make 1 and what would be a good roll at the begining?

Sure! No problem. It was really hard and confusing without a guide. I made my 1st character wrong because I didn't know what stats to put in it.

Soon as I found a guide, I was good.

that's with like every game...

jsut tell him a good roll for thief is

4 Str
XX Dex
4 Int
XX Luk

XX means that those number don't matter in the roll... as long as Str and Int are 4

What viet said. To get you on youre way to level 10 right (thats when you can make youre job advance from beginner to thief or assassin), when you level up, put all points in DEX till you have 25, then put all points in LUK. That way you cant be wrong at level 10. Once youre there im sure you got some more guides for assassins/bandits.
